The Inauguration Ceremony of the New State Senator of New York, Zellnor Y. Myrie, took place this past Sunday, February 10th, 2019.
Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Holtzman, the Rav and Shliach of SUNY Downstate Campus, was invited to deliver the invocation at the swearing-in for the senator that represents the 20th District (Central Brooklyn) which includes Crown Heights.
Among the elected officials attended were U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, NYS Attorney General Letitia James, NYS Senator & Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
Also in attendance were NYS Senators: Kevin Parker, Julia Salazar, Jamaal Bailey, and John Liu, NY Assembly Members Diana Richardson, Latrice Walker, Joanne Simon, Walter Mosley, Robert Carroll and Nick Perry, and NYC Councilmembers Brad Lander, Alicka Ampry-Samuel, Laurie Cumbo, Vanessa Gibson, and Jumaane D. Willams.
