This week Junior N’Shei’s annual chinuch event was a smashing success.
Women eagerly filled the room early to enjoy the fabulous children’s expo and delicious salad bar sponsored by Raskin’s Fruits.
Mrs. Chanie Pevzner addressed the crowd and shared practical, inspirational tips on raising chassidish children in our fast paced world. Her humble approach to motherhood, personal stories and thoughtful meshalim brought a fabrengen-style vibe to the room and touched everyone who listened. Mrs. Pevzner reminded the audience that perception is everything – when we perceive our role as mother as though it is the “gan eden,” when we are truly greatful for the bracha we have been given, the tough times become a lot less tough to handle.
Following Mrs. Pevzner’s heartfelt words, Mrs. Zahava Friedman, OT, BCBA, shared her thoughts on our children’s sensory needs and how we can easily address them.
Mrs. Friedman presented an interactive slide show highlighting sensory integration and she humorously engaged her audience in some tactile learning then and there. Mrs. Friedman urged parents and mechanchos to consider the importance of feeding children their sensory diet while also not spending money on fancy equipment. “My key words are cheap, free, and readily available,” Mrs. Friendman said. “Dollar Tree is my best friend.” Understanding firsthand the space limitations of living in a very populated area, Mrs. Friedman left the audience with an arsenal of practical ideas that can make a serious impact for children of all ages, stages and needs.
Women left the venue hopeful and inspired in their role of mother and/or teacher; eager to make a positive impact in their child’s life.
