Just weeks ahead of the major Chidon event and Shabbaton, Shimmy Weinbaum, director of Chayolei has sent a WhatsApp message to the parents of all participating children.
It is heartwarming.
And so were the responses.
May Klal Yisroel be blessed with an abundance of strength and joy in these days of Adar and an increase of Yiras Shomayim from the Torah learning of our children.
Dear Parents,
I would like to thank you. Your child has gained so much from learning with you and we truly recognize the time, effort, and encouragement you invested. They could not have done this without you, and for this, you deserve a chidon medal.
When I helped restart Chidon six years ago, who would have believed the revolution in chinuch it would inspire? That it would so capture the hearts and minds of thousands of children worldwide? Thousands of children today voluntarily sacrifice their time and comfort to toil in Torah to master the 613 mitzvos, and spread that passion to those around them. They know details of the mitzvos that even their parents and teachers don’t know!
Indeed, after six years of growing Chidon, the results are in: The participants’ voluntary learning fosters study skills and a foundation of Torah knowledge they will build on for the rest of their lives, including (but certainly not limited to) the study of Rambam—cultivating greater Hiskashrus to the Rebbe and the development of their Yiras Shomayim. These are the children on the front lines to greet Moshiach and are truly prepared for the day when we will merit the fulfillment of all 613 Mitzvos, bekarov mamosh.
Whether they made it to the Shabbaton or not, they already achieved the ultimate success. To me, to you, to all of their mechanchim, they are all truly winners.
Wishing you yiddishe and chassidishe nachas, always,
Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum
Tzivos Hashem

As an out of town parent who has participated in Chidon annually I would like to give special mention and thanks to the kind families in Crown Heights who host the children each year. The timing of the Chidon is particularly difficult – being so close to Pesach and what would be generous on a regular shabbos, is extremely gracious and no doubt a lot to take on for this Shabbaton. I am so grateful to those who continue to open their homes and give tremendous credit to you all. Please come and visit one day so that we can… Read more »
And it changed my life!! Rabbi Weinbaum, thank YOU!! It was such a pleasure and so much fun to do chidon!
Rabbi Weinbaum
Good on you to recognize the parents. They are the most important part of a child’s chinuch and they are never recognized.
Mothers work 24 Hours a day and no one even has time to say thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to write to us and let us know how much it means to you.
One very grateful parent
Completely agree
THANK YOU
May we all be zoche to give Hashem, the Rebbe and the Rambam much nachas and march all together to Moshiach NOW
