New York elected officials used the New York congressional breakfast of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of in Midtown Manhattan on Sunday morning to double down on their support of Israel.
“I work very hard for Israel every day, I try to do it in a bipartisan way. There are some who try to make Israel a partisan issue. That is detrimental to Israel. We cannot let that happen,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
The remarks were directed at the recent uproar after Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) accused the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) of paying members of Congress to support Israel, in addition to an anti-Semitic insinuation. Omar apologized.
Schumer, who has denounced the comments, told participants at JCRC: The Jewish-American community and supporters of Israel “assume because we know the story of Israel that everyone knows.”
He said: “What we need is a massive education campaign. We need our biggest philanthropists to put money into this, I don’t care if they’re Democrat or Republican. We need to be online, we need to be on the campuses, and not with the occasional effort that we see, but all the time. We need all of us to be missionaries and explain the history.”
Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY), Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee who refused to remove Omar from the committee, said: “I want to pledge to you that on the Foreign Affairs Committee we are going to stand by Israel… And I want to assure you that there is nothing to be afraid of. We have work to do, and we are going to do it.”
Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) stated: “What I can pledge to you is that the future of the Democratic Party is not going to involve BDS and anti-Semitism… and you will see us tested on that in the days to come.”
Maloney added, “If there are people who are engaging in anti-Israel rhetoric, they are going to hear from me. Our party shouldn’t be the home of people targeting the state of Israel, and it concerns me when I hear some of the rhetoric that bends in that direction. So I intend to speak out against it.”
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke acknowledged Mrs. Devorah Halberstam of the Jewish Children’s Museum, for the work on behalf of educating the youth of all diverse cultures on the beautiful Jewish Heritage. “The support of Israel and its security has been, and always will be, supported and protected,” Clarke stated.

From the comments, I think it is obvious, that the women of CH are the best way to organize Jewish political power in CH. The Federal seat of Yvette Clarke runs from CH, down Flatbush, down to Midwood to the Belt Parkway. Perhaps the women can organize the Jewish vote in CH with street voting captains, educating the community on the need to vote in the democratic primary which last time was decided by only 1000 votes for Yvette Clarke. Then joining the other female Jewish organizers from Brooklyn who can further organize, and vote in a stronger and more… Read more »

Today I contacted many of the congressmen on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and asked what they are going to do TODAY to remove Ilhan Omar from the committee and publicly reprimand her for her vile Anti-Semitic and disgusting comments. Her treatment yesterday of Elliot Abrams was totally unacceptable and should be the last straw. America did her a huge favor rescuing her from the chaos in her native Sudan not to mention an enormous package of benefits along with US citizenship. This is how she pays back the USA?! Crown Hts Women for the Safety and Integrity of ISRAEL… Read more »
You should step into reality. FYI that’s outside the Democrat party media’s talking points.
The biggest anti-semite in Congress is Steve King from Iowa.
Good one.
Keep the photo-ops comin’ baby. That’s all these people are good for.
They support “PHOTO OPS”, not Israel.
When 2020 comes arrives, don’t forget that the Democrats put the biggest anti-semite in Congress onto their most important committees.
Democrats support Israel?
HA HA 😂
After they all voted for the Iran deal..
“Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY), Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee who refused to remove Omar from the committee”
Says it all. The Dems have put an antisemite onto the committee that deals with Israel. Their words here are obviously insincere when they stab Israel in the back as they talk.
wonderful work for the community
Anyone call for her dismissal from Congress, or at least from the committees she’s on?
Of course not. If it was anti-black she would be tossed in an instant, and rightfully so. We just don’t have political clout. Sad.
BS”D bunch of fakers not one of them called out Omar
