Fake news
January 28, 2019 1:09 am

I looked through the first 25 mezuzahs and from the blurry pictures almost all of them looked kosher and a few others you really can’t see there but if your pissulim are touching letters that are clearly not touching and a daled that doesn’t have anything sticking out the back which the alter rebbe says is kosher lichatchila then you should find something real to worry about

Level of discourse
January 21, 2019 11:10 am

In persuit of a mitzvah, it’s sad how low the level of discourse is. It seems like people are creating a “theory” (sincerity, consipracy, hidden agenda, etc) and then treating it as “fact”. Well, just because it’s your theory DOESN’T make it fact! Read all the comments (here and on the other websites) and try to follow a common thread – look for a real “truth”. You can’t find it. The arguments are all over the place. Here’s one example, People who deny Wolf’s finding on the 7 stores are now attacking Raskin – saying he’s “as bad as the… Read more »

Why the double standard?
Is it ok so passel a mezuzah from a picture or not ?
Is only raskin mezuzos immune from scrutiny through pictures ?
Or it it only ok when someone passels raskin’s competition?
Please Make up your mind !!!

Maybe just maybe
January 20, 2019 7:22 am

Raskin had nothing to do with this Someone who saw this whole organized slander attack and knew halacha looked over the video and saw obvious problems that that the even poor quality pictures revealed That person wanted to warn the community that all cheaper mezuzos are compromised in quality and Raskin is not a miracle worker who sells hundred dollar mezuzos for 42 dollars That the integrity of the original slander is compromised by the 2 sofrim ignoring these obvious problems All of the maligned individuals and Raskin recommend buying more expensive mezuzos when possible Those who sell mivtzoim mezuzos… Read more »

In the first collive article mdw did not reveal the sofer.

Maybe just Maybe...
January 19, 2019 7:00 pm

Raskin had nothing to do with all this

Raskin was attacked for nothing

Raskin is honest and a yorei shomayim unlike some others (who may appear to be……)

Raksin actually cares about his customers getting 100% kosher Stam

Raskin deserves an apology by col

Something to think about.

January 18, 2019 2:31 pm

No.
He had them checked with two eye witness. Two sofrim. The images he posted are just for refrence so people can what he is talking about. But the actual checking cannot be done through images.

Tha fact is, that raskin’s stam are much better and better cheked. Even they have issues. Everything has potential issues. The others or at least most of the others, were straight out posul.
At least raskin tries to make them good.

Names
January 18, 2019 1:58 pm

So in one video we have someone making an announcement with his name, the name of the Sofer and it takes Collive time to do due diligence before releasing findings (only after the person is brought to beis din do they publish)

Claim #2 We have no name, no person standing behind the statements, nobody to sue for Motze Shem Ra, and Collive has no problem publishing.

Objective news most definitely. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

(please don’t tell me low resolutions pictures are enough to have each person judge for themselves….)

In truth I agree with you 100% But he is ruining everybody else’s reputation with images and now they are trying to apply the same scrutiny to machon stam and now all of a sudden images are not good anymore. Wouldn’t it have been nice if everybody would have come out together and said that, and perhaps insisted to get an unbiased checking done because we can’t judge all the problems that wolf is saying that were found by everybody else because he is proving with images?!? If we can’t trust the images then it’s his word against everybody else’s… Read more »

Shame
January 18, 2019 7:21 am

The jealous person who did this is a low life, no wonder he won’t sign his name. And for the record half of lubavitch are second cousins, in the large families we have second cousins are barley related. I don’t know 90% of my second cousins names.

Wow!
January 18, 2019 7:04 am

Rabbi Yitzchok Raskin had ZERO to do with this other than fill an order if 10 mivtzoyim mezuzos!
Saying otherwise is being מוציא שם רע (for real this time) and evil.

Who checks the mezuzos in C.H.?
January 18, 2019 3:09 am

Nothing wrong with non mehudar mezuzos for mivtzoyim. But they need to be checked properly. You can’t expect one guy to check hundreds a day. No where else does it work this way. Not even Raskin has checkers who are certified ( I asked). THE LACK OF REGULATION IS A בושה. Anyone can do whatever they want. In no other place can just any bocher, kollel guy or failed teacher be entrusted to check mezuzos. You need to learn for 3 years and take a separate test for הגהה (examination of stam) which is a lot more difficult and requires… Read more »

January 18, 2019 12:31 am

Wolf gets all or some of his mezuzahs and tefillin from raskin. He is a regular customer. He was sure there would be no issues in any of them because of machon stams always preaching higher standards of kashrus. He ran this test and didn’t scrutinize Raskin mezuzahs whether raskin new about it and was sure they would be fine or not is irrelevant. The point is he felt very sure that Raskins were perfect. And everyone else was selling the problematic ones. I am sure they are good friends and he may have had his friends best intrest in… Read more »

Absolutely right.
This outrageous zealousness stems from somewhere unholy, And is not constructive

Who ever wrote this is lacking the main point
January 17, 2019 11:53 pm

You cannot check a Mezuza over a picture taken from a video. Unless you have the original mezuzois and you check them in real life, this means absolutely nothing. Nothing. So go do some real checking. Maybe make your own video and stop making problems out of a picture.

Fyi, doesnt matter good of a resolution the picture is, it only makes it worse. Your eye is suppose to see what its suppose tl see. Torah is not in a computer.

Go Raskin. The only reliable, gd fearing sofer i know of.

Looks like 2 different batches of mezuzahs. The first 8 are quite decent with only maybe 2 or 3 real shalos. But the last 2 are pretty bad with blatant pesulim in the spacing. Imagine if it would be 8 of the bad and 2 of the good. Obviously there were many more then 2 bad ones sold by machon stam but only 2 of them ended up in this report. We get it, they are difficult to check you are doing your best and anyone can miss something in these cheap mezuzahs. we are not going to call you… Read more »

THIS is the problem

You see this Machloikes? Do you think it is just going to disappear? Although we wish it would, it is likely to only fester for a long time. Mr. W from Chicago. Your KANA’US is the root of the problem. YES, there is a problem with the reliability of cheap Mezuzos. And it is a good thing to EDUCATE people about this. If your video would have been simply to shine a light, educate, but not name and shame (which is not kosher to do!), then it would have all been OK. But Mr. W chose to NAME & SHAME… Read more »

From this growing mountain of negative spirit, I take the following constructive lessons: If I want to buy a kosher mezuza, no matter where I get it from, I’m best served by having it checked by an unbiased third party to verify its kashrus and will not trust the sofer himself or store itself, since they are biased to the product. (This is unlike kashrus, where there IS an unbiased third party certifying someone else’s product. OU, OK, etc don’t sell food; they certify someone else’s. What’s coming out of all this is that it’s causing people to loose geshmak in doing a mitzva.

HOW COME WOLF DOESNT NAME THE SECOND SOFER!
January 17, 2019 6:13 pm

Why doesn’t wolf make the name and face of the second Sofer that “officially “ makes everyone selling mezuzus on Kingston’s ave poshul (besides Raskin)in his very transparent video clip?

Is klein trying to gain credibility by knocking the reliable sofer on the kingston??
January 17, 2019 6:08 pm

These “issues” are all non- issues. No sofer would sign this pathetic anonymous “report” Its a joke!

Machon stam has excellent standards EVEN for their least expensive products. The are honest and G-d fearing.

This is a pathetic attempt in trying to build back some trust. Take the good guy down with you.

You need be blind to be fooled by this slander!

Machon stam keep up your good work, and hashem should watch over you all!!

Reality Check
January 17, 2019 5:56 pm

Some have a hard time accepting reality. The fact is there are many issues with many sofrim what they sell and how they check. Wolf did us a service to wake us up. A pity he had to do it this way but that seems to be the only way that works. Many of the problems and some quite serious r”l people have could be avoided if their mezuzos and tefilin are in order.

Very simple
January 17, 2019 5:37 pm

it’s interesting that wolf said he checked all the mezuzos in Brunoy. Who did he get it checked by? Another random Sofer that no one heard of??? Since when is any random Sofer – like the one in Brunoy, Montreal camp and Chayalai more reliable than Moshe Klien. Cuz he’s not biest?? Most Sofrim charge extra to fix and if they say pasul they can sell you a new one! (And keep the pasul one for their next customer!!!!)

A man points out large issues with the Kashrus of “Mivtoim” Mezuzos, something that the Rabbonim won’t address head-on. Instead of addressing the issue and instituting higher standards, the ideal solution became obvious to everyone. Don’t fix the problem, just attack the credibility of every aspect of the evidence. Don’t actually fix anything, just deny, deny, deny. Now we can all just pretend that these Mezuzahs are all perfectly fine. Problem solved.

I personally do not think that Raskin was really behind the whole project because if he was why would he submit such poor quality Mezuzahs to be examined. But at the end of the day some of these issues are blatant and how they were missed by two independent sofrim boggles my mind. This is so confusing. If anything, this should motivate people to check the mezuzos and LEARN THE HALACHOS. I hear so many people saying it’s possul, it’s kosher bedieved…. Who the heck knows!?

I’m done. I’ll buy a decent priced mezuzah and let Hashem know to strike the sofer if it is problematic.

This is an embarrassment and a joke

Even after this article I will continue checking and buying from Machon Stam, you see how to take care of the mezuzos from the way they treat you, very aidel and mentsh, they explain you the checking procedure and even take pictures, to show you the service and what was done.
I don’t every safrus office but heard stories with many of them but Machon stam.

January 17, 2019 2:18 pm

I am a Sofer and was involved with Mivtza Mezuza from it’s outset. I write and check but do not deal buy and sell. Cheap quality mezuzas were always problematic. In fact, we referred them to the Rav of the Stamford Hill kehilla at the time. His view that such mezuzas were kosher for the particular group intended but should have tagin. Having looked through the samples, few highlighted issues are really problematic except some with spacing. This is obviously not written by an objective sofer. from the article it is clear it was written by the jealous sochrim. I hope wolf is enjoying his 15 min of fame but please go away. We have real problems in crown heights there are families who don’t have enough food or money to pay tuition and rent. And you are just causing fights in our community. There’s a lot of pain in this world we don’t need anymore. Especially from someone like you who claim you are just doing this for righteous reasons. We know your kind. Kindly go back to Chicago and leave us alone.

Since when do we behave like this in chabad? If the original 8ntent was leshem shomayim, the approach would’ve been much different. I’d like to say a few words to YD Wolf. Please listen and think about it beino levein atzmoy. You are relatively a yungerman. You seem full of energy and resolve. The approach is completely wrong! You did hurt many people in this process. You erred in the way you did this. It’s not too late for you to change course. Please reconsider. Good won’t come out of such an approach R”L. If you really seek to improve… Read more »

why
January 16, 2019 9:52 pm

Why would we even look at an unsigned expose?? why wouldn’t the sofer sign it? you can never rely on anything that has no name attached! guy can say whatever he wants and not be held accountable??

Rabbi Veiner response to one of the STaM Centers in CH
January 16, 2019 9:49 pm

Moshe Wolf of Chicago, who broke the alleged mezuzah scandal, had released a Halachik response from Rabbi Veiner of Eretz Yisroel in which he states some things that might make a mezuzah posul. The question-answer formatted response, discussed such things as cracked and malformed letters. The response was used by Moshe Wolf to justify his claim that the mezuzos sold were not kosher. Rabbi Veiner, a leading figure in STaM and author of a book on the subject, released a statement VIA email in response. In it, he distances himself from any conclusions made on the mezuzos. He clarifies that… Read more »

January 16, 2019 9:37 pm

Mr wolf your response is laughable. Either the things you point out are problems for all the mezuzos or non of them you can’t have it both ways. I most admit the video you made is well done but you are really transparent. Not every is as naive as you had hoped.

January 16, 2019 9:32 pm

Wolf is trying to say that I tried to skew rabbi Vainer’s response. That’s a load of nonsense. The emails are there for anyone and everyone to see. They’ve been floating around whatsapp.

Here again youre proving your inability to comprehend anything other than your shallow view. You fail to see that YOU MISUSED RABBI VAINER.

Go get an education and realize that your opinion doesn’t mean fact

It sounds like raskin and wolf planned a PR stunt to boost business.
January 16, 2019 9:30 pm

What a coincidence that 1 cousin found his cousins mezuzus magically 💯 kosher, while all the other stores had MAJOR problems. I feel like we are not getting the entire backstory.

Old news
January 16, 2019 9:24 pm

Ask anyone in the industry and they will tell you that raskin has been making a living by bad mouthing EVERYONE. Now he just did it in a more public way.

Thank you!
January 16, 2019 9:20 pm

I am sofer and when I watch the video I did not want to believe that some one could be so cynical and do something so terrible and spread this kind of loshon Hora.but when you look closely at wolf findings they are completely inconsistent. My thoughts were either Rosenbaum (no clue who he is not sure why people are listening to him) never checked the ones from raskin or the results were doctored.

Not biased
January 16, 2019 9:20 pm

Ye right

If he needs to say he didn’t do it for his cousin, it’s because he knows that it seems like he did… Seems like he’s nervous that he was finally caught red handed

Wow. So True
January 16, 2019 9:18 pm

Thanks for pointing out the problems in these mezuzahs too. It’s shocked that wolf didn’t find them

Thoughts
January 16, 2019 9:17 pm

I think the point of this article is to prove that all Stam shops sell cheaper quality for those who can’t afford better, but they are ALL STILL KOSHER – just in a subjective way (like when you ask someone if the food is good, if it’s not their taste they will say no but if it is they’ll say yes. Same here, a strict Rabbi will say no but a lenient one will say yes).

MACHIN STAM HORROR STORY
January 16, 2019 9:16 pm

I bought my son tefilin for his bar mitzvah last year. This year in Elul my son had it checked by another Sofer and it was missing a word! And it’s supposedly computer checked…

Finally someone’s speaking the truth

Thank you

January 16, 2019 9:16 pm

Let’s start with who I am and why I started this project: Those who know me know that I have always been involved with mivtza mezuza. When I was in Brunoy, I personally took down all the mezuzos, had them checked and put them back up. I did the same in Montreal camp, Cincinnati Yeshiva, and Chayolei camp. As you see anywhere I went I was involved with mezuzos. In the past few years I have been involved in educating the local Chicago synagogue gift shops about kosher stam. While meeting with the gift shop volunteers I stumbled on a… Read more »

Wolf is trying to whitewash it
January 16, 2019 9:15 pm

But I see right through it

about #5
January 16, 2019 9:13 pm

A good positive way to look at it. Great Proof that Raskins is the best quality!

Of course
January 16, 2019 9:13 pm

Of course people are gonna try to say these aren’t issues. Make up your mind either tagim are or aren’t an issue. Either space is or isn’t an issue

Grow up and think for yourself. This while thing smells bad

Blind test
January 16, 2019 9:12 pm

The key point that this “study” deliberately avoids is that not only did Rabbi Rosenbaum have no motive to favor one source over another, he also didn’t know which batch came from which source. So it’s impossible that his findings were biased. Whereas whoever did this one set out on purpose to find problems with this specific batch.

Shliach
January 16, 2019 9:11 pm

This is obviously an attempt by the worst offenders to destroy Machon Stam. Double shame!
Very disappointing to see other סוחרים trying to undermine one of their competitors. ספרות is not a get rich quick scheme, at least it is not meant to be…..
All of those that are selling questionable Stam should make a חשבון הנפש and do their utmost to rectify a very troubling revelation. ודו”ק

"Not even worth his time"
January 16, 2019 9:05 pm

To me that just sounds like he is trying to avoid answering the issues.

Seems like he’s just trying to put it down by making believe they’re not issues when they’re exactly the same issues brought up in his mezuzahs

Well well
January 16, 2019 9:01 pm

Of course. Moral of the story kids. Don’t believe everything you see on the internet,

silly article
January 16, 2019 8:57 pm

If anyone knows anything about safrus, none of these “issues” are Psulim. Aside some of the square reish’s, must be taken a closer look at, can be a serious shaila. You cant compare with the issues brought up by the other mezuzahs. This article is trying to cloud up ppl minds and confuse ppl about the real issue in cheap Mezuzohs. Don’t fool yourself. For Mivtzoim either buy more expensive Mezuzah or have someone you know check it. (If you can’t do either machon Sta”m still seems like a better alternative, i am not a fan of machon stam but… Read more »

January 16, 2019 8:51 pm

Someone is obviously panicking about r’ wolf’s video.
All of these are so minor, whereas some of the mezuzos from other vendors should not be sold by anyone with yiras shomayim.
It’s too late for the damage control, the genie is out of the bottle. This post again confirmed that I should source my STAM from Y Raskin.

Finally....
January 16, 2019 8:42 pm

Finally some true facts to point to the bias of wolf’s lies and misleading the public.
Thank you!

Shame on you
January 16, 2019 8:42 pm

We could of been Melamed Zechus especially when nothing is wrong with the above Al Pi Din but just to make sure all sofrim are in it together and not leave one behind this had to be done. What unity! Shame on you whoever you are! You could of just took care of the person that made that video via a Din Torah instead going further with this hate on Yud Shevat out of all days!

I Saw this Coming
January 16, 2019 8:40 pm

Right when I looked at those mezuzahs I knew there was something off. They looked like they were overlooking problems.

Is this from one of the other safrus places that is the jealous?
January 16, 2019 8:39 pm

Wow I’m really thrown away by the way there can be some jealous sofer out there that can say that raskin has issues as well….
Complete jealously if you wanna check him out you cannot know its him.
