A Jewish man was injured in a hit and run collision on Union Street in Crown Heights on Friday afternoon.
The man was crossing Union Street between Kingston and Albany Avenues at around 12:00 pm, when a white Kia Sedan hit him.
People at the scene said the vehicle then dragged the man for a half a block before the victim fell from the car.
Hatzalah transported the victim to Methodist Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, including broken bones, police said.
After canvassing the area, Shmira located the vehicle, abandoned on Union Street between Utica and Rochester Avenues. They then notified NYPD.
The car, which appears to be a rental, was impounded for further investigation. Video surveillance from the street where it was found abandoned is being checked to make an identification.
of blood on the hood as well as bashed in windshield. The car was going over speed limit for this small, narrow, side street with speed bumps. Almost as if the driver’s intention was ‘watch out, here I come, & whatever or whoever’s in my way’s gonna get it’!
thorough investigation of the incident by the car rental company and their insurance company.
Agree 100% refuah shilaima to you all
If the guy hit the bachour at first even if he didnt see him he was speedind when he drove ,i am sure he saw the man on his hood of the car but continue driving then. Stop the car and the man get ejected then he runs away from the scene .usually they go slow between union and albany ,also the fact that is a rental car that he abandons right at the scene making it suspicious. I hope that the bachour recovers fully from his injuries they should have more radar sreens to catch speeders
We are all one! If you see something to learn say it without putting others down or judging. This is the only way to live life In emes!! May Yehoshua Zelig Ben Doba have a Refuah shilaima. And all of you who say judgmental things may you also have a Refuah shilaima. Moshiach now!!
Let’s see the outreach of our community leaders and make sure the driver is capture. And number 3 keep your opinion to yourself because you not injured, let see if was someone you know, you wouldn’t speak like that. Ahavas Israel and let make sure that our representatives do something
Those are the only questions that are important right now. Because they sure haven’t bothered about all the other crimes in the past month (year, decade..) and that is the direct reason for the growing confidence of the criminal element. I would think that the half hour it would take to find out who rented the car and video footage of the renter would be a sure path to id the driver, but I’m sure that mere logic is a way too unfamiliar process for the failed crime prevention system in crown heights.
A car ran into him and kept going until he mercifully dropped off the car, and it didn’t stop (on a narrow road with speed bumps) until the driver abandoned the car and ran away. That is not a simple matter of a driver who never saw him coming. This was intentional. On more occasions than I’d like to remember, I’ve seen cars suddenly speed up from half a block away when they see you crossing, at speeds unheard of in residential areas. More people have been hit when crossing properly from a corner, by drivers who go round corners… Read more »
#3 is not totally off..he was on the hood a few car lengths, I feel sorry for him yes, but truth be told he just walked straight into the road. Perhaps COL has other info , lets be dan l’kav..
Please people, do NOT do that, and tell you kids the same.
That said, the driver is likely a worthless piece of trash should have stopped and rendered assistance.
Yehoshua Zelig ben Doba
Refua sheleima!
The driver always has the responsibility to avoid the pedestrian. That’s the law. And the victim was on the car’s hood. Try to be informed.
Let’s say tehillim for another Jew who needs a refuah
Besuros tovos
You are a fake commentor number 3. The video shows him being dragged on the front of the car. So what if it was less than half a block.
He wasn’t dragged for a half a block. He wasn’t even dragged for a quarter of a block. He literally J-Walked between the cars at the end of block, which was irresponsible on his part. Though, despite that, there is no reason for running away. People: STOP CROSSING IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. YOUR LAZINESS WILL GET YOU KILLED.
Is there a name for tehillim?
