Thousands of teachers were gifted and showered with “Thank You,” as they rolled in to the parking lot of the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn to pick up their Chasdei Lev orders.
Among them were over 150 teachers from Crown Heights schools who participated, thanks to the efforts of teachers’ league Igud Hamelamdim.
As they pulled into the lot, each teacher was handed a gift and their order was loaded into their car without them lifting a finger. Adults and children from across Brooklyn came out to volunteer and display their admiration for their community leaders.
“I volunteer every year to show the rebbis how much they are valued,” said Mordechai from Flatbush. “They are truly the most valuable asset our community has, and we need to say that with action.”
Igud Hamelamdim administrator Rabbi Avrohom Bluming was on hand for the Crown Heights teachers.
“This is not about financial assistance,” Rabbi Bluming emphasizes. “Teachers are the light of a community and should be recognized as such. Not just for their sake, but for the sake of our children and our community.”
