As Chassidim celebrated the Yom Tov of Yud Beis and Yud Gimmel Tamuz around the world, Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch of Crown Heights held its graduation and end of year award ceremony for parents, teachers and students.
The first-grade boys performed niggunim, each student singing a niggun that started with the same letter as their name. Older elementary boys performed instrumental Chassidic niggunim in a band led by Ephraim Schwab as part of the school’s after school art and music program. Each student received a certificate and seifer to continue his/her study during the summer weeks.
Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch has successfully culminated in it’s 8th year of operation.
”Our primary goal is to reclaim Pure Torah Education and deliver it to the children of our community”- says Mila Schneiderman, founder and Director of OYYL. “Our Rebbe spoke for many years about the importance of giving children a chinuch based on Taharas Hakodesh which was passed on from generation to generation all the way from Moshe Rabeinu, without mixing in secular studies, which confuse their developing minds which are not beneficial for their soul and the spiritual development of the child. OYYL Educational Team feels it is our obligation as Chassidim to follow these guidelines.”
Mordechai Sogomonian, a parent, said: “This is our 7th year in OYYL. I have 1 son learning here. There are many unique things to admire about OYYL, including positive atmosphere, the remarkable level of individual attention, the academic excellence, and the devotion to Yiddishkeit and Chassidishkeit it inspires my son.
“One of the things that impress me the most, which really distinguishes this Yeshiva, is the clear direction and mission that the entire staff buys into, and an unprecedented level of professionalism across the board.”
The graduation was followed by a rally with a Chassidishe story, snacks, pesukim, raffle and prizes.
