Update from the Oirechman Family:
Shmuly just came out of a 3-hour surgery. The doctor said it’s the most severe injury he has ever seen. And he has been operating on people for almost 30 years. Still, he was able to reattach the retina, something he originally told us he wouldn’t be able to do. In his words: it was a miracle we were able to do that.
It’s still unknown if the eye was saved or not. We will know that in the next few days/ weeks. But if it was saved, there is a chance that he will be able to see. And that’s another miracle as none of the doctors thought that would ever be possible.
The surgeon, Dr. Steve Schwartz put on Tefiilin before the surgery. He also had a Rebbe’s dollar in his shirt pocket for the duration of the surgery. This was a dollar the Rebbe gave over 30 years ago to a 4 year old child that had a similar injury.
Please continue to say Tehillim, Daven and dedicate any Mitzvah, specifically an increase in Ahavas Yisroel and Tzedakah and Torah study, in merit of Baruch Shmuel Ben Chana for a full and speedy Refuah Shelaima

Shmuly Oirechman (Boruch Shmuel ben Chana) is going through a very critical surgery 10 AM EST, tomorrow, Tuesday at UCLA Stein Eye Institute.

I posted this update in the Shulounge chat and Zevy Brummel said the boy in this photo is his brother Asher. He said Asher lent his Rebbe dollar to the Shmuels family as he recovers. This is the story of what happened to Asher when he was younger: When my brother Asher was almost 4 years old he was playing outside shul on shabbos. A boy threw a stick and it hit his eye. He was rushed into surgery with Dr Cohen. He had 27 micro stitches and they put a patch on his good eye so that he would… Read more »
As mentioned a few days ago…I’m a Retired RN from South Africa. I strongly feel The Rebbe’s Brochas here that’s guided this Yiddishe Doctor to repair little Shmueli’s eyesight. By the fact that his retina has been resutured together, is a Brocha in itself that Shmueli will have an eminent & complete a Refuah
Sh’leima.
