Mr. Aleksandr Raskin, a beloved member of the Los Angeles Jewish community, passed away on Sunday, 26 Shvat, 5778.
He was 82.
Mr. Raskin, who emigrated from Ukraine, lived and was very involved with the Jewish-Russian community in the Los Angeles area.
Trained in the Soviet universities, he was employed in the U.S. as a very successful mechanical engineer.
When his only child, Malka, was diagnosed with the horrible illness from exposure to the waste from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster, Alek obm and his wife Khana dedicated themselves to the care and the comfort of Malka. His mild mannered persona also comforted everyone that helped Malka for her years-long convalescence.
He is survived by his wife Khana and daughter Elena and grandchildren.
Beloved father of Malka Bordoff obm and father-in-law of Boruch Bordoff.
The levaya will take place today, Monday at Mount Sinai Cemetery

For those of us lucky to know him we were blessed. Humble and loving, sensitive and kind. Aleksander was completely selfless until the last minute. His needs were never heard and everyone else’s were top priority to him.
