Under extreme pressure from the Israel Minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives of UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) agreed to meet with Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director of Chabad’s Terror Victims Project (CTVP).
UNICEF’s annual reports on the Israel-Arab conflict focus exclusively on the effects of conflict on Palestinian children while ignoring completely the devastating effects of violent terror attacks on Israeli children, Rabbi Kutner says.
The purpose of the meeting was for Rabbi Kutner to provide first-hand information on the work that Chabad does with 3000 families throughout Israel whose lives have been deeply affected by violence and terror.
His clear reports from on the ground gave a very different picture to the UNICEF representatives present, he said.
“The goal is to have future reports show a balanced approach to the needs of all children throughout Israel,” Rabbi Kutner stated.
At the end of the meeting, Rabbi Kutner expressed his hopes that in future there would be no need to include Israeli children in the reports because there would be no more terrorist attacks but, until then, the information presented needs to balanced, honest and thorough.
May Moshiach come and heal the world so all these organizations can disband themselves!!
A ray of light amidst a deep sea of darkness! Hatzlacha Rabba!
