The first Avos Ubonim of the 5778 winter season, at the Tzemach Tzedek Shul in Monsey, kicked off last Motzoai Shabbos Parshas Vayeira with over 50 participants joining the program.
“It was wonderful to see everyone coming in, all excited to see what will the special program be for this year,” said Rabbi Yisroel Shusterman, coordinator of the Tzemach Tzedek branch of the international Avos UBonim program – organized by Cheder Chabad of Monsey. “And special it is! A colorful beautiful booklet and stickers were distributed to each of the children to learn all about the 39 Melochos of Shabbos – in addition to the regular revision of the week’s schoolwork which the boys keep busy with at the program.”
“It’s a most amazing sight, to see all these fathers participating and being involved in their son’s learning. Kol Hakovod to the fathers for making the effort to come and share these moments with their sons! Even more importantly, though, it’s a time, therefore, when the boys feel a unique and close bond and relationship to their fathers, a feeling that will surely remain with them for many, many years to come.”
Yasher Koach to Mendel Sandhaus and family who sponsored the evening in honor of their son, Levi’s, birthday this month.
As always – P’sukim were recited, with raffles, prizes and refreshments and the program rounding off with a beautiful Motzoai Shabbos story, told by Rabbi Shusterman. Starting next week will be a special raffle for the “early birds” – boys coming within the first ten minutes of the starting time – for the next number of weeks – at 7:00 pm.
All elementary age boys are invited and encouraged to join this beautiful program happening every Motzoai Shabbos during the winter season.
