A woman was caught after snatching a baby from inside 770 Lubavitch World Headquarters on Wednesday morning.
The mother let her child out of her eyesight for just moments at the Lubavitch World Headquarters on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights. That’s when a woman picked the child out of the stroller and began walking away.
The mother got a few feet away, while on her way to the bathroom, when she realized what was going on.
She then immediately reported the incident to the police mobile command center located on the corner, while witnesses simultaneously called Shmira.
Shmira began searching for the woman who snatched the child and alerted police to her location. The responding officers took the woman, who was also Jewish, into custody. The child was not harmed.
The 27-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation for a possible mental illness and is currently being questioned by the police.
In case of any emergency, do not hesitate to call Shmira at 718-221-0303 and 911.
a mother shouldn’t be leaving a child in a stroller unattended,
PERIOD.
even if its by 770
than things like this wont happen.
from the chabad perspective, there is no eruv. From the perspective of other modern orthodox shuls in CH there may be one but collive comes from a chabad perspective
Yes!
Please post a picture of the “baby snatcher.” The article said she was only being evaluated for mental issues, which means she will probably be on the streets again soon. A picture will help identify her and prevent it from happening again, G-d forbid.
women have been doing this for quite some time especially when then go shopping in williamsburgh or small jewish stores that cant accomodate their carriages. Its terrible. your children are your jewels and YOU NEVER leave them. There are lots of sick people out there – who come in all colors and religions. if you ever see someone leaving their kids unattended please say something before its too late.
“Remember there is no eiruv”??!!
If you actually believe what you wrote, then it casts a shadow of doubt on the veracity of everything else you write.
BH she noticed quickly! This is nuts.
These notices need to be sent out in multiple languages to communities BEFORE the massive influx of guests. Included should be HAVE A PLACE TO STAY; don’t cross EP or any street except at crosswalks: remember there is no eruv; don’t leave personal belongings unlocked & in open view; don’t leave luggage unattended… AND WATCH YOUR CHILDREN! If you can’t, don’t come.
