Cuomo, De Blasio Visit JCM Scene

Following a bomb threat at the Jewish Children's Museum on Thursday, Both Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio visited Crown Heights to lend support.

Following a bomb scare at The Jewish Children's Museum on Thursday, both Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio stopped by the scene.

The building was evacuated Thursday morning, after someone emailed the museum to say three pipe bombs were going to imminently explode inside Thursday morning - the second threat in the city against a Jewish center this week, police said.

Both Cuomo and De Blasio stopped by the scene Thursday afternoon. Cuomo held a press conference in Crown Heights earlier Thursday, and de Blasio had a town hall in nearby Bed-Stuy about his plan for area homeless shelters.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo visited the museum about 11:30 a.m. and toured it with its founder, Devorah Halberstam, who created it after her 16-year-old son was killed by a terrorist on the Brooklyn Bridge in 1994.

The building was declared clear by about 1 p.m.

"This is one of the cruelest ironies yet in this rash of anti-Semitism that we've been experiencing," Cuomo said at a press conference with Devorah Halberstam. "This is a museum that is a monument to tolerance."

"It's immoral, it's unethical and it's also illegal," Cuomo said. "And we are going to find the people who are doing these threats."

"This is very painful to me," Devorah Halberstam said. "Very, very painful to me. I feel like I'm kind of reliving my son's murder."

Several other area politicians decried the threat, including U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, who tweeted, "Another threat against NYC & its Jewish community. We must fight this scourge tooth & nail. I stand w/ @JCMBrooklyn."

May Hashem continue to comfort you and give you the strength to always be a fantastic speaker for Jewish causes. What a beautiful innocent picture of Ari that was shown on the news report and bitter-sweet as we remember him and the pain you will always feel.. May Hashem avenge his death and protect klal yisroel. May we all be reunited with our Rebbe '' and loved ones with the coming of Moshiach.
