Cantors Relocate to Manhattan

14 chazonim – in a variety of styles of Chazzanus, contemporary, Chabad Nigunim and more – sang the night away at an inspirational and educational evening.

Valuable pointers, technique and on-the-spot lessons were provided and performed by Cantor Dovid Babinet, (David is a voice trainer and musician, who’s sang chazzonus as well as Opera, internationally).

Rabbi Levkeh Kaplan (whom, together with Babinet, started these works shops over a year ago) opened the singing by davening a beautiful “Chazonishe Mincha”, with the appropriate nusach and tunes. “It is rare but great to have a model of what davening should be, vocally, nusach wise and with the proper hanhogos.” – A mispalel

Mincah was followed by trained Chazonim and artists alike. Including, Shuey Samuels, Mendel Wolowik, Arye Leib Hurwitz, Zevy Steiger. Cantor Levi Kranz, Cantor Ed Smith and Cantor David Segal who’ve drove in from upstate NY, LI and NJ to participate in the event.

Some of the pieces sung, were the classics: Raza d’shabbos by Pinchik, Hershman’s Modim, ant hu d’shalit and ad heno by Rosenblatt and ki lekach tov by Roitman.
