Rabbi Avrohom Chanoch Glitzenshtein, one of the most fruitful and respected Chabad authors and activists in the last
generation, passed away on Wednesday, 20 Adar, 5775.
He was 86.
He was born in Jerusalem to Rabbi Shimon Glitzenshtein, Director of Yeshiva Toras Emes Chabad and the secretary of Israel’s Chief Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook.
Rabbi Chanoch learned in the Chabad Yeshiva system in Israel, Tomchei Tmimim, and after his marriage to the daughter of the famed chossid R’ Avrohom Paris, he served as the secretary of the Yeshiva in Lod.
On 20 Kislev 5710 (1950) he received specific instructions from the Frierdiker Rebbe on his official responsibilities as secretary of Tomchei Tmimim, which at the time oversaw Chabad activities in Israel.
In 5723 he undertook his father’s role at Toras Emes and later in his life was on the administration of the Beis Chana school for girls in Jerusalem.
In addition to his community work, Rabbi Glitzenshtein was a fruitful author of some 60 books and many articles and essays. Most notably, he published the biographical series Sefer Hatoldos about the Chassidic Rebbes of Chabad.

The Rebbe is the one who told him to do all the writing and traslations.

First Rav Mondshine, now Rav Glitzenstien, truly the end of an era
As a bochur, it was his teachings and writings that had an early and tremendous effect. He taught how Chassidus is life, Hashem is life, the Rebbe leads us to life and that we must push ourselves to become a part of it. We lost the best we had and a great light has left the world. May he bring Moshiach now. He deserved it most. His family will always be blessed by him and we all feel for them. May they know no more tzaar.
