A special convention for young Chabad women and post-seminary age girls will take place during the upcoming Chof Beis Shvat convention in Crown Heights.
The Kinus, organized by two girls currently on Shlichus, Chayala Mentz of Bel Air, CA and Sara Elharrar of Los Angeles, CA with assistance from Chana Mushka Alevsky of NY, NY and Chaya Mushka Zalmanov of Crown Heights, is now marking its 5th year.
During the convention, hundreds of girls gather in Crown Heights to socialize with friends, enjoy gourmet meals, and receive a spiritual lift from workshops, sessions and events tailored just for them.
Many of the girls in this age group are already working as Shluchos, assisting in Chabad Houses around the world with programming, Hebrew Schools, Bar/Bat Mitzvah lessons and preschools, organizers told COLlive.
The sessions will tackle topics that are helpful to both girls who are on Shlichus for the year, as well as those who are looking to enhance their knowledge of chinuch and hashkafa.
“This year the theme is ‘Tzama L’cha nafshi,'” organizers said. “What do you thirst for? Tapping into the yearning of our souls makes us more whole and enables deeper and more personal relationships – with Hashem, the Rebbe and those around us.”
On Friday night, a Chassidic farbrengen will be held with Rabbi Aaron Herman, Rabbi of Chabad of Cary and Principal of Tzohar Seminary.
A highlight of the program will be a Motzoei Shabbos concert with popular singer Esther Freeman, which will be preceeded by a Melava Malka. Participants will also have the opportunity to join the Kinus Hashluchos Gala Banquet Sunday evening.
Other speakers in the program are Rabbi Aharon Dovid Gancz, Rabbi Yaakov Rosenthal, Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Mrs. Chani Lipskar, Mrs. Rivkie Katz, Mrs. Batya Rosenblum, Rabbi Eli Silberstein and Mrs. Chanie Greenbaum.
Workshop sessions are open on a first come first serve basis.
