Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch school in Crown Heights has moved to a new facility on Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue.
The move to a bigger facility in its fifth year of operation is an achievement and indicator of success to all — the students and parents, teachers and administration. What makes OYYL so special and unprecedented within the Chabad world is its diverse approach to each child and to the education system overall. The Program’s goal to facilitate and further develop strong Rebbe-Chosid relationship among its students and raise the bar for quality Chabad Education.
The school has successfully integrated the Differentiated Instruction, allowing every child to grow on his/her pace on all levels of development. The layered curriculum that is tailored to students’ age and level allows each school year to be interesting and meaningful. The curriculum puts strong emphasis on the development of the child’s character and social skills; through chassidic stories the program develops strong thinking and reasoning skills. The art and drama classes facilitate creativity, inspiration and emotional relief. Learning of the Chabad history allows children to connect to their roots and appreciate the great work of our Rebbes. It’s worth mentioning an absolutely positive and empowering influence on the children of the community, attending the OYYL’s art, music, and gymnastics after school programs.
The OYYL’s educators consider that not only the content of the education should be pure and holy, but also the style through which it is delivered. They have successfully developed an “open learning” classroom setting. Whereas typical frontal learning focuses on standardizing the educational process and attaining hegemony, open learning is child-centric and focuses on the needs of the individual student. Classes are small (12-14 students). This gives students and teachers utmost flexibility in truly engaging journey of learning, and of learning how to learn.
This practice is one of many OYYL’s winning features, such as the multi-sensory teaching techniques, when the children are encouraged to touch, smell, listen and play with the world around them and across all areas of learning, including the learning of Alef-Beis, Chumash, Mishna, and Gemorra. The OYYL’s personnel also strives to care for the whole child, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, an interactive natural garden where children are encouraged to plant, observe nature, and take care of their environment, and healthy (GMO and MSG-free) meals.
OYYL’s remarkable approach to the basic educational standards bears its fruit. Since the school was opened four years ago, it has grown from 4 to over 60 students, and at the beginning of this year OYYL moved to a much larger facility, allowing to establish new classes and continue the enrollment for the current and following years. Registration is open for Nursery-4th grades for boys and Nursery-Kindergarten for Girls. The doors are open to all for a tour.

Its so amazing to see that they actually hand pick their teachers that not only follow their approach in Chinuch, but are enthusiastic about it… And that what makes their school so unique.
The fact that they reveal the true beauty of pure yiddishe chinuch that maybe was not so inforsed in other Mosdos, as opposed to looking around into other cultures and methods. Let’s see first what we have as Jews and Chabad Chassidim.
Let them grow from strength to strength and lead the future of Chabad Chinuch!!
So amazingly happy to be a part of it and help achieve the goal that is the dearest thing for Hashem – make Hashem live in the moyach of a Jewish child, purely and besimcho!
There is so much to say about that amazing school –
But I think that above all – the Chayut that the kids get from that place worth everything !!!
Big ‘THANK YOU’ to all the staff .
May HASHEM bless you with more success and power to do – to be a good example for all other schools.
יחי המלך המשיח לעולם ועד!!!
Daily individualized attention for every child (yes, it’s in the curriculum) to work on his/her level mastering alef-Bais\ kria / parsha is a hard find! But OYYL is successfully implementing this every single day.

She works with each child as if they are her own. Mila has her masters in special education and utilizes her education to reach each child al pi darko.
