Taking a short break from the intense Pesach preparations, thousands of chassidim celebrated the Rebbe‘s 112th birthday in New York on Thursday night, the eve of the 11th of Nissan.
In addition to learning the Rebbe’s teachings and going on Mivtzoim to help other Jews connect with their heritage, many attended the various chassidic farbrengens held around Crown Heights and in Queens.
The first farbrengen was held in the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway where Crown Heights residents were joined by 770 bochurim in marking the auspicious date.
Addressing the 770 Farbrengen were members of the Crown Heights Beis Din Rabbi Yaacov Schwei and Rabbi Yosef Braun, as well as Rabbi Shloma Majeski, Mashpia and Dean of Machon Chana Women’s Institute in Crown Heights.
The farbrengen held at Campus Chomesh in Crown Heights was organized by Agudas Chassidei Chabad (Aguch) and addressed by Oholei Torah Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yisroel Friedman and Aguch Chairman and Head Shliach Rabbi Abraham Shemtov.
A farbrengen was also held in the courtyard of Ohel Chabad-Lubavitch Center, near the Rebbe’s resting place. Speaking there were California’s Head Shliach Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, Montreal Shliach Rabbi Moshe New and Toronto Shliach Rabbi Mendel Kaplan.
