Tzohar Seminary for Chassidus and the Arts, located in Pittsburgh, PA, held their first semester arts presentation this past Tuesday night.
Titled, “Chassidus, Art and Identity”, the Tzohar students presented individual works of art based on the Chassidus that they studied and connected with personally. Their presentations consisted of works of poetry, essays, paintings, theatre, music, dance and films.
The evening was held in zechus for a Refuah Shleimah for Rayna bas Necha Clark, and drew an audience of women and girls from the Pittsburgh community. The Tzohar choir led by Gila Moritz and Leah Herman sang in her honor.
This is Tzohar Seminary’s second year, and seventeen students are attending from across the US, Canada and Israel. The students study Limudei Kodesh and Chassidus, as well as creative writing, playwriting/screenwriting, visual art, music, dance, theatre, filmmaking and photography.
The seminary’s goal is to create a place where frum chassidish young women can develop their talents, while growing into thoughtful, creative and inspiring individuals and Jewish women.
Guided by the Rebbe’s vision, they are taught to use their talents for kedusha, to bring insight and beauty to the world. An example of this is a film by Chavie Resnick.
Tzohar Seminary is accepting applications for the upcoming year, and holding interviews in Crown Heights during Chof Beis Shvat. Their website can be found at TzoharSeminary.com.

May I express a constructive critiscism? You spoke beautifully, with good tone and at a good pace. But maybe try to make more pauses. Give us time to contemplate the question, time to absorb the music a bit as well.
