Over 120 women from around Brooklyn attended the annual evening of Mei Menachem Community Mikvah of Brooklyn Heights on Tuesday, dedicated to the theme of “Sarah’s Tent” in honor of all the Mitzvos of Jewish women.
Held at Congregation B’nai Avraham, the hall was transformed into a rich Middle Eastern setting with a delicious Moroccan buffet spreading an enchanting aroma, while Henna painting was being offered.
Shternie Raskin, Shlucha of Brooklyn Heights, recognized Rochelle Brenner with an award for her tireless commitment and dedication to the spa-like Mikvah. In attendance were also Shlucha Ariella Weinstein from Pratt university and Shlucha Esther Abromowitz of Fort Green.
The room was silent as renowned speaker Rivkah Slonim, Shlucha at SUNY of Binghamton and author of “Bread & Fire” and “Total Immersion,” awed the crowd.
With her inspirational words, Slonim evoked the crowds’ curiosity of why Jewish women throughout generations have sacrificed to keep the Mitzvah of Taharas Hamishpacha (family purity) alive.
Each guest received a Mario Badescu gift bag filled with spa products and two surprise gifts were raffled off.
“Everyone walked away with a new respect for this beautiful Mitzvah,” the organizers said.
