The Crown Heights Farmers Market will open today, Thursday, and will offer a variety of fresh produce and kids activities.
Farmers Markets, popular around the world as one of the oldest forms of direct marketing by small farmers to the general public, promotes healthy eating and brings the community together by offering locally grown seasonal produce.
The Crown Heights Farmers Market, which debuted last spring, features produce grown locally in New York and New Jersey.
This week the market will feature produce from Farmer Roy, including Asparagus, Blueberries, Bunch Beets, Cucumbers (Kirbys), English Peas (the ones you shell), Kale, Lettuces – a variety, Pickles, Radishes, Scallions, Spring Onions, Tomatoes, Herbs – Cilantro, parsley, and maybe even broccoli and cabbage and more.
Activities for children include a plant sale and worm composting. Children will get the chance to decorate a recycled milk carton and plant seeds in them, a project conducted by Seeds in the Middle Garden Educator Jonathan Blumberg.
In order for the market to be accessible to everyone, they will be accepting EBT, WIC, SNAP and FMNP.
The Market is being sponsored by Seeds In The Middle, a non-profit organization that brings healthy foods and sports programs to the Crown Heights community.
The market will take place every Thursday, until November 15, 12 pm-7 pm at Hamilton Metz Park – Lefferts Park at Albany and Lefferts Aves.
The market is very grateful to Senator Adams, NYC Parks Dept, NYS Agriculture Markets, USDA, Farmers Federation of NY, Empire State Development and all the dedicated and employees and neighbors that made this project happen.

what time are they there?
Just because its a market outside does not mean their prices are great, what they do is they make a few items really cheap and hike up the price on other items, so before you buy make sure the price is right
