By Mishpacha
Thirty days have passed since the passing of a saintly individual, a man who personified the climb to spiritual peaks even as he remained so approachable, with a demeanor that radiated joy and ahavas Yisrael.
Reb Menachem Zev HaLevi Greenglass — or “Reb Volf,” as he was known — served as a mashpia in Montreal’s Lubavitcher yeshivah since arriving in the city after World War II. He had been sent by the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rav Yosef Yitzchok, to spread Torah and Chassidus in the city.
Despite his reputation as an accomplished mekubal, Reb Volf dispensed advice that was ever-so-practical, as a talmid related to Mishpacha.
“I asked him for a segulah for shalom bayis. With a twinkle in his eye, he said, ‘Some suggest that it’s a big inyan for a husband to grab his tallis and fold it immediately after Shabbos, but I have another idea.”
He idea was: “It’s a big inyan for a husband to grab a dishtowel after Shabbos, and get to work helping his wife. That’s also a segulah for harmony in the home’.”
I also heard this before as from the Rebbe
Hurray for Mishpacha.
I have gone through the igros twice and don’t remember seeng this. Please give a makor. Don’t just throw names around.
Kudos to Mishpacha to using the L- word, 🙂 unlike others
There is a letter in Igros to the same effect (I believe around vol 15)
I have heard this before, but i am now happy that i have a respected source to quote it from 🙂
I heard that it was the Rebbe who said this to someone. Did anybody else hear that?
i believe he was quoting the Rebbe on that one. 😉
. . . and of course, helping your wife and making her happy is a guarantee for money!

Let’s hear it for Reb Menachem Zev HaLevi Greenglass! He knows that prayer and study is good, but by itself, it doesn’t do the trick to maintain a peaceful, loving marriage. To maintain Shalom in the home and in the marriage, a man MUST help his wife in daily chores. It’s a simple formula: he makes HER happy, she makes his/their life more pleasant. It’s THAT simple.
Amazing story and so Reb Volf.
