Two months ago, Ukrainian Jewish billionaire and philanthropist Gennady Bogolubov charmed thousands of Shluchim and supporters at the banquet of the Kinus Hashluchim.
Speaking in English with a heavy accent, Bogolubov told the crowd why he truly enjoys and loves donating to the Rebbe’s army and proved to be a COLlive fan.
Tonight, Sunday January 30, Bogolubov was not at the New York State Armory in Brooklyn where close to 3000 Shluchos and guests gathered for the Kinus Hashluchos gala banquet.
But he stole the show yet again.
Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Director of the Kinus and his close friend, announced that Bogolubov intends to give yet another large endowment to Shluchim families around the world.
He said that Bogolubov will be giving $500 to each family to celebrate the birth of his grandson. An estimation of the total amount is $2 million.
The announcement at the banquet was met with a roaring round of applause.
The Bogolubov Simcha Fund, administered by Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, has sent a similar amount in September 2010.
It was given in honor of Bogolubov’s daughter and titled by an Israeli newspaper “2 Million Dollar Baby.”
“A big yashar koach goes to Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky, Chief Rabbi of Dnepropeterovsk, the city where the Rebbe grew up, for inspiring Mr. Bogolubov,” COLlive.com was told.
