Tzivos Hashem is running a worldwide competition for Jewish children to mark 30 years since the youth movement was established by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
“The Power of Jewish Children” will feature entries from children from around the world, who will compete for prizes totaling $30,000 cash and a trip to New York.
COLive.com is one of the major sponsors of the contest, which will be judged by a panel of judges and by public votes.
Entries may be in one of three categories:
Heart: A Chesed Award for an exceptional act of kindness for another.
Hand: A Performance Award for the best display of talent, such as a personally written story or poem, artwork, a comedy skit or playing a musical instrument.
Head: An Achievement Award for exceptional studies, researching and writing about something important or mastering a difficult concept.
COLlive is showcasing some of the entries:
Name: Menachem Mendel Farkash
School: Cheder Menachem, Los Angeles
Grade: 7
Theme of Submission: Learning the entire Shisha Sidrei Mishna by heart
My dear grandmother, Rebbetzin Sara Rochel Schochet obm, expressed that her greatest source of Nachas and joy is seeing her children and grandchildren dedicated to learning and living a life of Torah.
In honor of the upcoming first Yartzeit on the tenth of Adar, and in her memory, with Hashem’s help I have learned the entire Shisha Sidrei Mishna by heart. My father tested me on each Seder (B’vas achas – at one time) and my Menahel Rabbi Greenbaum will IYH be testing me on the entire Shisha Sidrei Mishna b’vas Achas – at one time.

Two years ago, I paid a visit to my chaver Amram and found his 8 year old son in Mesivta at 7 PM learning sisha sidrei mishna. That’s how children shoudl be raised.
Menachem you are amazing and you definitely made your Bubby very proud of you. To Menachem’s amazing parents; a kid like this doesn’t turnout this way by chance. THIS GIVES ME CONFIDENCE THAT ONE DAY I TOO CAN RAISE TRUELY CHASSIDISHE KIDS – INTERESTED AND PROUD TO BRING THE REBBE NACHAS
YASHER KOACH!
Also let’s give “Hakoras HaTov” to the board of the Cheder that work night and day to keep the school open and growing.
Beautiful, may you be an inspiration to many!
Moshiach now!
Let us continue to umpire our children to reach great heights in Torah, Avodah and Yiras Shamiem. This is the o ly answer to the long and unbearable Galus. As the Rebbeh tells us every day, Moshiach is near. Thank you COL for giving us Chizuk, hope and a new level of expectation from our own children. Keep up these types of stories, it makes the Galus seem easier to defeat!!!
Brought tears to my eyes.
Rebbe, This is for you.
I think its time.
It looks like his parents helped him with persistence. This has more to do with keeping at it and never giving up, than it has to do with brains. Hey, we all know Shema by heart. Anyone can do this if they put themselves to it for the thousands of hours it takes. Here is an example of someone who actually did it, unlike the rest of us lazy…..
We need to learn from this boy to do the same.
WE ,all the Jewish ppl , are very proud of you!
michayl elchayl!
Maybe a shiduch far my dughter. Ok joking but lots of nachos from you

Wonderful story, and I’m sure that there are hundreds more like this, let COLlive do good journalistic research and you’ll be able to report such great stories on a daily basis.
And to Rabbi Schochet: Well deserved Nachas. May you live all your life and enjoy such Nachas from all your children and einiklach.
It’s not by chance that this story comes to the fore only 3 days after Yud Shvat. This shows how the Rebbe is greater and stronger now in his leadership to be able to produce such terrific Chasidimlach.
Ay Rebbe Rebbe, ven velen mir zich zehn?
Congrats on your accomplishment. Your family is a great asset to L.A. Rabbi & Mrs. Farkash contribute so much to the chinuch of our children here.

This & the friendship circle r the most important things that should be focused on. The Singing competition is only 2nd 2 the real & main thing which is lemud hatorah & helping those young kids with special needs.
