Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared a “weather emergency” Tuesday evening, urging people not to drive and warning that cars blocking streets would be towed. The declaration falls short of a formal “snow emergency” that would prohibit people from driving on major streets without snow tires or chains.
Crown Heights’ local 71 Precinct has requested that residents refrain from driving and do not park on any snow emergency routes.
These routes are clearly marked on parking signs.
If any emergency please call 911, and the 71 Precinct will be monitoring the situation through out the day.
Mayor Bloomberg is eying the latest snowstorm headed to New York City like a defeated boxer itching for a comeback. He pledged Tuesday that his administration would use the lessons learned from its poor handling of the post-holiday blizzard to respond to the new storm.
“We didn’t do the job that new Yorkers rightly expect of us in the last storm, and we intend to make sure that that does not happen again,” Bloomberg said at City Hall. “We are enhancing our existing snow plan and supplementing it with lessons learned during and after the Christmas weekend blizzard.”
The city is expecting eight to 14 inches of snow to fall in the five boroughs beginning Tuesday evening, with the heaviest snow coming in the early morning hours Wednesday. The forecast includes wind gusts of up to 25 miles per hour and visibility less than a quarter-mile at times.
Are you joking? 2 weeks ago was way bigger
When I think of the “snow” we had in London recently and the fuss we made of less than 8 inches i feel embarassed, Our local councils couldnot get their act together. Good luck with this amount of snow.
this is probably going to be the biggest snow storm in the history of CH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
