Just read the COL news about Seattle Washington and you will see that we there is a sakana everywhere in the world so long as moshiach is not here yet.. The answer is not to move but to strengthen the neighborhood. We need more police protection. When they show their presence, and go on foot patrol, crime goes down. It’s a fact.

Sad Reality of NYC in general

whether he is Jewish or not a man is dead here people… When walking in these sketchy neighbourhoods around CH , you have to act like you are not afraid at all…dont make eye contact but keep your head up…If you are scared and you act as such you will be targetted…. Saying Tehilim or Torah by heart helps too.. Convince yourself in these situations when its the hardest that Hashem controls all and he will protect you Number #21 When a death occurs we must reflect on our actions I might not a agree with her either but she… Read more »

Am I the only one?
December 22, 2010 9:16 pm

I am wondering: are other girls/women also very uncomfortable about the current situation? For example,
walking on President betw NY & Nostrand there is often at least one aggressive person on that block harrassing Jewish passers by in athreatening way. Although I need to walk down that block very often I have never seen anyone patrolling it.

The Rebbe said to stay in CH when e/o else left in the 70's.

Glen Goldstien, calling the Shchuna of the King wretched takes gall and nerve. I’d watch my mouth if I were you-“I, the Rebbe, take Responsibility for Chabad, until the coming of Moshiach.” (Igros Kodesh)

ha ha oy oy

so because it happened in a laundromat we have to be more careful with how we dress. and because we have a fragmented rabbinate the police don’t do thier job.

me oh my. what a perversion of religion and egoism.

Are people forgetting the Rebbe’s adamant view on leaving the Sh’chuna? (I’m out of town for Shlichus.) Besides, maybe you should think about putting others into a mokom sakono; every family that leaves Crown Heights makes it more of a mokom sakono for those remaining. (Besides, take it to its logical conclusion: Do those recommending fleeing, want to see 770 and the rest of Crown Heights given up to our less-than-friendly neighbors?) And while standing our ground we must, of course, do whatever is necessary; constantly cognizant of the fact that, as Yidden, our Gashmius is a reflection and product… Read more »

3 People in 3 Weeks
December 21, 2010 7:40 pm

Thats 3 people killed in 3 weeks and 6 within the past 4 monts! We need Guliani back to start the guns for money / toys programs going again and to get the criminals off the streets.

Lack of Law and Order Beruchnius in C.H.
December 21, 2010 7:00 pm

The lack of law and Order in “Police Work” if you want to call it – stems from the lack of law and Order in our Beis Din.

It is imperitive that the 3d elected Rav be installed as soon as possible so that all these tragedies come to an end.

As our sages say:

“Kesheysh Din Lemata, Ein Din Milmaalah”

i agree with number 10 & 11
December 21, 2010 5:15 pm

if there was a determined effort to get more cops and to be seen driving the streets at 3 am this might noT HAPPEN
if we wanted to turn crown heights into suburbia it could happen

though the truth is we dont belong in crown heights it shouldve gone to the dogs long ago we are arresting the natural cycle of neighborhood

A makom sakono is a makom sakona. It is the responsibility of anyone who cares for their wives and children to make the effort to leave and move to a safer neighborhood. If Hashem wants to get you there he’ll find ways to do it. No need to help out. It is not for nothing that chazal said al tachnis atzmecha l’mokom sakana.

far far away from new york... AND HAPPY!!!
December 21, 2010 4:51 pm

Except because im upset that im away from the rebbe, im glad im not in a town of murder. NO OFFENSE…..

Clothing
December 21, 2010 2:07 pm

Ladies, time to clean up our wardrobe.
The neighborhood isn’t wretched, but our safety is affected by our garments in a makkif way. Don’t minimize this, even though you probably will say it’s unfair to write this, make a cheshbon nefesh. We bear some responsibility, like it or not, b/c that is our nature.

Russian
December 21, 2010 1:39 pm

He was a very nice guy and a good person but not Jewish he was a good Russian CHRISTIAN

INSANE?
December 21, 2010 1:20 pm

THE ANSWER IS NOT “TIME TO MOVE” BECAUSE IT WILL FOLLOW YOU WHEREVER YOU GO! iF SOMETHING IS MEANT TO BE, YOU COULD BE IN YOUR OWN BED WITH YOUR FRONT DOOR AND WINDOWS LOCKED BUT HASHEM WILL FIND A WAY. YES, THIS IS A TRAGEDY BUT ONE THAT COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD – AS IT DOES. THE ANSWER IS TO STAY PUT BUT PUT UP THE BIGGEST TUMULT WHY THE COPS ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB AT ALL.

Was he taka jewish?
December 21, 2010 10:39 am

If thats true, please someone confirm. thats very sad.

Im very afraid that if the cops don’t start showing a very strong reaction to these murders that the criminals will get more brazen. (as if you could get more brazen than walking into a laundromat and shotting and killing someone)

December 21, 2010 10:29 am

The writing’s on the wall. Time to move out of this wretched neighborhood!

Guns and more Guns
December 21, 2010 10:22 am

In less than a month there have been three shootings within our community. not just a robbery with a knife or a break in to a house, but a crime involving a working firearm! so it appears the crooks have guns. What do you have to defend yourself? how safe do you feel?

Boruch Dayan HaEmes
