The Chabad Rambam Day School in Ottawa, ON was privileged to host an event on Monday December 6th for staff, families and guests of their school.
Their guests were fortunate to be treated to the incomparable talent of Toronto-based virtuoso pianist Gershon Wachtel.
He talked about his life and interspersed his dialogue with various pieces of beautiful music, which seemed appropriately chosen to enhance the moment.
It was a touching and inspiring evening as he spoke of joys and difficulties he had experienced throughout his life.
Everyone was moved to see that, as he played, he seemed to lose himself in his music.
He actually appeared to require a few moments to compose himself as he finished one particularly moving piece.
It was very evident to all that, after his family, music is the singular most important aspect of his life.
He is an accomplished pianist who astonished the guests with the quickness of his fingers and the flare with which he performs.
Rambam?s guests were profuse in their thanks and admiration. It was an evening to remember, one of them said.
Aside from technical perfection, there is a tremendous amount of heart and soul in Gershon’s music, making even well-known tunes a pleasure to listen to.
Yes, I have also heard him play in his house and his playing is really nice, touching and beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Gershon’s performance is great. He brings tears and smiles and is very inspiring. He is a very humble guy. From someone that has heard him play in his own house many times, he can really play. He is also very creative and innovative and really plays from the heart.
