In keeping with the message of Chanuka of “spreading the light,” Bais Menachem of Miami Beach was host to a huge Melava Malka for the entire South Florida Community.
Children from the young ages of even 1 and 2 years old enjoyed the evening with lots of fun and exciting attractions. Being that the theme of the night was “light up the night,” it was a totally unique and apropos surprise as a van pulled up to the shul located on 40th st. with dozens of Laser tag equipment.
Family oriented video games for sons vs. fathers, and of course brother vs. brother in basketball, hockey and racing was enjoyed as well. Of course, there were separate girls and boys games held throughout the evening.
The little ones enjoyed a huge bounce house accompanied by an oversized slide. Pizza, Latkes, salad, and tasty treats were of no shortage; no one left with an empty stomach. Rabbi Yehuda Leib Schapiro, Rov of Bais Menachem, spoke to the crowd of children and adults on the importance of carrying the message of Channuka with us throughout our lives. The yeshiva bochurim motorcycle parade wowed everyone in attendance with a special stop at Bais Menachem for children to take pictures while sitting on the bikes.
By 10:00 p.m., the hype and celebration finally culminated into a late night special chassideshe Tzivos Hashem rally with all the children gathering in the shul’s main room. Now was when the real fun was about to begin, as school was closed the next day so bed times were not an issue at all. Pesukim were recited by all the kinderlach, and Chanuka stories were told by Rabbi Bentzion Korf. Holding their breath, everyone excitedly checked their tickets as the grand raffle of 8 wonderful prizes was held. All in all, the children had a blast and mommy and tatty certainly enjoyed themselves as well!
A huge Yasher Koach goes to Yossi and Batya Lipskar, Shmuli and Aliza Bogomilsky, and a continuous Yasher koach to Zalman and Mimi Fellig, and Danny and Daphne Bortunk for their continuous efforts and encouragement in the Daven Like a Chossid kids’ Minyan.
