I’m also from the old school, but hearing from students who are there, Rabbi Sacks did not want any of the public or close Balei Batim present during his visit with the Bochurim. Having said that i think he wanted a Chassidishe Farbrengen atmosphere bringing him back to the time he spent as a Bochur in 770. He gets a show where ever he goes. I’m sure he’s tired of it and appreciated the fact that the Bochurim were themselves.

Rabbi Sacks is most definitely a Chossid of the Rebbe. He may not follow MInhag Chabad but he speaks about the Rebbe constantly, when he teaches classes they are based on chassidus and sichos, he never fails to credit the Rebbe and mention the Rebbe as his influence. PS a lot of people may not like that as they see Lubavitch as a threat to “central orthodoxy” but he does it anyway. He wore a kapote to his daughter’s wedding and he spoke then about how he had visited the ohel the week before and the zechus that the Rebbe… Read more »

You are a warm, chassidishe, busy guy who always has time for the rest of the shluchim to post your unbelievable memories of the Rebbe. I believe Rabbi Sacks first sang and heard this song at the home of Rabbi Lew’s parents on one of the many Shabbosos he spent with them – correct me if I’m wrong.

i agree with number 11

I am somewhat from the Old School of thinking…Question: Why are the Bocherim sitting with out hats and jackets? After all, this is not respectful especially when you are hosting a Rav…

I love Rabbi Lord Sacks
