Tuesday, July 6, runoff elections are being held for two additional candidates for the Vaad Hakohol – Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, the non-profit organization in charge of local communal affairs.
Jewish male residents in Brooklyn’s Chassidic section will cast their vote in the Kolel Tiferes Zkeinim Levi Yitzchok hall at 304 Kingston Ave.
The location was moved late Monday from the 770 basement due to lack of sufficient air conditioning in the original location.
Monsey Rabbi Avrohom B. Rosenberg, who has been coordinating the special elections, will oversee the runoff election as well.
The ballot opened at 8 AM with a choice of 3 candidates: Fishel Brownstein, Yossi Hackner and Shea Hecht. Residents who can prove they are eligible (ID must be presented), must vote for 2 of the 3 candidates in order for their vote to count. Polls will remain open until 12 midnight.
Last Minute Support
In the past 24 hours, candidates have been working to garner support in a last-minute effort to convince voters.
In a letter sent to residents, members of the community denounced a recent letter by former Vaad Hakohol members accusing candidate Brownstein of Messira, saying he is “an upright, G-d fearing man, who faithfully carries the public trust and is not shayach at all to such things – when he is wholly innocent of such charges.”
In an effort to show he is the most qualified for the community leadership position, Hecht met with four local politicians in the past 72 hours stating that they have assured their willingness and desire to work with him if he is elected.
In a flyer sent to Crown Heights residents, Hecht is seen pictured with Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Senator Eric Adams, Assemblyman Karim Camara and Councilwoman Letitia James.
COLlive Updates:
>>8:01 AM Eastern Time
The second round has officially begun. Representatives of both Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba and Rabbi Yaakov Schwei are here to monitor the process.
>>9:02
Parties involved are expecting a very low turn out. Possible reasons: Tuesday is a workday (the first round was held Sunday), summer season (hundreds are in the Catskills vacationing or working), disappointment of the handling of the elections in recent weeks.
>>10:04
A surprising 203 already voted as people come to 770 to daven Shacharis.
>>10:34
The number is holding at 276. The question is if the turn out will keep going as strong the rest of the day.
>>11:09
Among those who voted: Rabbi Osdoba, the Rebbe’s secretary Rabbi Leibel Groner, mohel Rabbi Eliyahu Shain and Oholei Torah Mashpia Rabbi Michoel Seligson.
>>11:56
Following davening downstairs in 770, current Chairman of Vaad Hakohol and candidate Fishel Brownstein came to vote, quickly walking in and out and not speaking to people present.
>>12:38 PM
An argument erupted over a person who said he was a resident but did not have any ID on him. One monitor allowed him to vote, while others opposed. Rabbi Rosenberg interfered. He said an ID is a must and if no one will be screening the voters “I will do so myself.”
>>1:09 PM
Among those who voted: The Rebbe’s Chief Chozer Rabbi Yoel Kahn, Oholei Torah Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky, Mashpia Rabbi Chaim Serebransky and Chaplain Jacob Goldstein.
>>2:05
614 people already voted. On his way to vote, Shea Hecht told us he just came back from the Bronx where he was receiving food for his girls Camp Emunah.
>>2:50
Chaos at the polls: Elder resident R’ Berel Haskelevich nabbed flyers from the Hecht campaign. A chase began down Kingston Avenue but the literature was already thrown in the trash. Calm has been restored.
>>3:59
Candidate Yossi Hackner, who voted this morning, tells COLlive.com: “Everyone is using my name in vain. My picture and name are being used both by Brownstein and Hecht. I would like to clarify that as I was neutral during the first election process, I am still neutral and no one has asked me to endorse them.”
>>4:41
With many still at work, some 858 voted by now. Among them: Member of Badatz Rabbi Yaakov Schwei, Chairman of Merkos Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky and 770 Yeshiva Mashpia Rabbi Itche Shpringer.
>>5:55
With 6 hours left to go, the number of voters is holding at 970. Latest voters: Rabbi Mordechai Gurary of Congregation Chevra Shas and outgoing Vaad member Elie Poltorak.
>>6:11
1,004 people have already voted.
A larger crowd is expected in the coming hours as people return to the neighborhood from work, and are arriving at 770 for Mincha and Maariv.
>>7:08
1,121 votes were cast.
“This is turning out to be a phenomenal success, beyond what we expected – especially for a weekday,” Noochie Gross, member of the election committee told COLlive.
>>9:08
Real estate owner and Crown Heights donor Yossi Popack came to the ballot but was challenged by monitor Crown Heights tour guide Yisroel Ber Kaplan saying he lives with his family in the Five Towns.
Popack said: “I own the 1280 President house, I’m a registered voter in Brooklyn and the address on my driver’s license is here too.”
Rabbi Rosenberg offered him to cast a vote separately in an envelope which would be considered a non-counted protest vote.
Popack refused and then stormed out. “If I’m not a resident, then who is?!” he asked a COLlive reporter. “I’m in this community before this guy was born. When Crown Heights people ask me for money they tell me ‘charity begins at home.’ Now this is not my home?”
>>9:45
1,555 have voted so far, among them: Tzach Director Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Hatzalah Director Avrohom Bistritzky, incoming Vaad chairman Zaki Tamir, outgoing members Chanina Sperlin and Zev Cadaner, former Vaad members Moshe Rubashkin, Dr. Tzvi Lang, Rabbi Shmuel Plotkin and Michoel Chazan.
>>11:28
1,720 have voted, with 30 minutes left.
>>12:07
Runoff elections in Crown Heights have closed with 1,779 votes cast. Members of the election committee are now counting the votes.
Would you say the same if Brownstein & Hecht’s numbers were reversed?
The Vaad should go with the 50% they should all be in.
Let’s talk about it
Enough of the machlokos. Let calm and peace reign in our community.
hecht is a good man and has lost other things in life, radio show, various pul pit’s
time to thank the others and move aside
a good day fro ch
WHAT A SHUD… SHEA WE LOVE YOU. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK…
so who won???
Rabbi Rosenberg allowed Rabbi Hecht to run what issue is there? Obviously It was ironed out!
Why is there no conflict when a real estate mogul runs for the va’ad???
He helps NCFJE hecht inc? Is released time Hecht Inc? Is camp emunah Hecht Inc? Is Hadar Hatorah Hecht inc? Is shaloh Hecht Inc? Is the parade a Hecht Inc evnet. Do you know how many millions the above programs cost them??? An organization that has what to show for is that Hecht Inc. Honestly there are somethings I dont like that they have done, but no one is perfect, and they get things done. Truth be told I have a lot of appreciation and negation for both candidates, but this campaign is run on nothing positive. First R Shea… Read more »
Isn’t it funny how the people who are always bashing Chanina for his photo ops with the politicians are now saying to vote for Shea because he took some pictures with some politicians!?
before the last election we got max 1200 votes!
this one is about 1800!!!!!!!
no one should complain that the elections were not fair because their side couldn’t come.
both sides came out to vote! and both sides have votes in the mountains.
the problem is he is a proxy for hendel and co. thats the only reason i was hesitant to vote for him. im a mashachist by the way. just dont like balei machlokas.
Popack should have been allowed to vote. Do the bylaws say what constitutes living in CH? Does living here means sleeping here? I highly doubt it’s discussed.
L’havdil, Hilary Clinton didn’t live in NY, but became a senator because she bought a house in NY.
Last but not least, if the voting is about helping CH, I believe Yossi Popack helps CH.
there is a half hour left and it looks like the election will be decided by five or ten votes so i am pleading for everyone to vote or for someone who has hashpa’ah to go and vote ..you must vote for Fshel Brownstein..for the period of time that he was in the vaad he proved himself as young, honest and charismatic man.he went off his seat for the sake of achdus..I am sure the other men are also decent men but Fishel really proved himself. Run and vote ..and don’t forget to bring a dollar with oyu to give tzedakah… Read more »
is a decent person, a thorough mentch. Nobody was able to malign his character at all. The worst anyone could say about him was that he associated with the wrong people. Nobody hates him, he’s just a proxy for their hatred. Based on that he has my vote.
The women did vote in one Vaad election I remember several Vaads ago.
a vote for Brownstein is a vote for Mendy Hendel and his people
he should be able to vote – not because of his donations (which i think he is a great man for all his donations…), but rather because he has a house in crown heights and if he is eligible to vote in ch, and takes census in ch then the chjcc benefits from him as a resident of ch, case closed
on any of the websites?
interesting – that is no longer important. although i have seen descriptions of Brownstein as honest.
a thought
What highly qualified independent thinking Rov would consider the position #3. (That’s what it is and will be. These Rabbis are behind much of the garbage floating around this election.)
IMHO the BD made a mistake. The whole BesDinTz of CH should have been dissolved and started from scratch.
My prediction is that either no-one will nominate, or someone who is seen by an overwhelming majority as not-for -the-job. The election will have to be postponed, and the politicians will scurry around trying to draft someone. Isn’t that what happened with Heller?
What are you gonna do with yourself after the election?
If anyone has a right to vote, it’s Popack. Who comes close to him in their devotion to our community??
I love this line!
“voting for Shea because Brownstein is involved in machloikes is like voting for Obama because Bush isn’t conservative enough.”
Anybody who is from the Shchunah appreciates Yossi
If he lives here he should vote, if he doesn’t he should not.
Not everyone who was born here and has a grandmother here gets to vote.
We appreciate your Tzedoko, but money should never change the rules of the community. That’s exactly what we are trying to vote OUT.
if brownstein looses
poltorack will be in court wednesday morning for a tro not to let the new guys take over
and that will stop the election for a ruv ….. that is what he wants because if brownstein looses then that side sees they will lose the ruv election so they dont want it …….
i hope i am wrong .. but my gut says i am not
i agree with u all this garbage is just causing some uneeded polotics.
I give him alot of credit for voting it shows he cares about this community & by him voting he inspires others to vote & care!!!
Why cant women vote?
yossi we love you. you are a man of action a man of true tzedaka. i agree you should have a vote, you were born here you learned here, the rebbe advised you not to go to colledge then gave you a bracha for asheris. but since there is no one in ch whom can act as a mediator. they hired harav rosenberg. he doesnt know whos who. he just acts upon the rules. you are very important to all of us. if i was running the election i would let you vote on your own merit. l’chaim!
hakner
who are the candidates for the third Rov.
This is the most vital quote of all, its for a generation.
hope we can find a experienced, respected and independent minded choice; if not will will continue to flounder
I hadn’t thought of it like that. The propaganda against Brownstein has been getting to me, but if you step back you realize, if you think Brownstein has been mixed up in machlokes, Hecht’s entire career has been mired in fighting for his special interests against those of the community. I guess that explains the hatered directed against the nicest guy in town–fishel. So thanks for the heads up. Just got back from voting for Brownstein and Hackner. I just hope Hecht doesn’t get in–the stuff his people churn out is so hateful, and it would be nice to live… Read more »
I VOTED FOR BROWNSTIEN AND HECHT!
After viewing the comments, if comments are an indication of the votes cast today, it will likely be as follows. Hackner wins and Bronstein and Hecht are very close. Hecht has a slight advantage in comments of support.
Hey reb ahron, nice to see you.
CBH
HE’S DONE JUST AS MUCH NOTHING AS BROWNSTEIN HAD DONE!!
7:23pm, 1200 votes. Just a bit more than 100 per hour. The flow will probably slow down after 10:pm and my prediction of 1600 votes by midnight looks likely. So what does it all mean?
all most everybody is voting for either hecht and hackner or bronstien and hackner
Who do i vote for if we want to get help for subsidized housing like in williamsburg?????????? The yuppies are moving in faster than you think and we are still not expanding at teh same rate that they are moving in ! HELP!!!!!!!!!
vote bronstien hecht
I researched and researched and then i finally came up with my decesion: Im with the hecht-hackner thing. Hecht, i feel, really knows what he is doing and will get started fast. He has a lot of connections and he has already helped hundreds of people and i think he will continue to help more. He is lively and easy to talk to you and very simchadike man. What hackner wants to improve i really like. He is young and would make a good team with hecht. He sounds confident and has connections. I think the community can really use him.… Read more »
Please note: Yosef BenZion Raices who signs the letter of the “eltere” chassidim, is NOT Yossel Reizes (ben R. Elchonon), former chairman of Ntzigim, and compiler of Daas HaKahal.
Many people came over to me today to ask how I could sign such a letter, I have nothing to do with it, nor agree with it.
#92 vote for rabbi hecht and hackner only hackner ’cause its better then brownstien!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can someone explain do the rabbonim want fishel b or not????
HE WANTS THIS, WAY TO MUCH!!!!
Something don’t smell right!!!!!
Please help the community by voting for Hecht and hackner
what do these people do already imean seriuosly jst trying to add some “spice” to some peoples boring life its all jst a waste of time.
… BUT I CARE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY… SHEA’S THE MAN!!
Brownstein does not chase kovod. Neither does Hackner.
From day one Brownstein made it clear that he is going to work to bring the rabbonim together….and he did.
WHO CARES ?! SERIOUSLY!!!?? WHOEVER WINS WINS!!
VOTE Brownstein – Hackner
SEE:
http://www.anashnews.com
What do y’all think, who will end up with more total votes?
I expect Hackner to get AT LEAST 75% of today’s vote and I think his total will be higher than Tamir’s…
how can we get a sponsor for Yossi Hackner and Co.??
all this would be good if they work together however since they wont what will you accomplish?
I saw for many years the work that Shea Hecht did for for all groups. He cares for people, not organizations, as some of the past comments imply. I know when I or someone else needs help he is the address. For example someone had asked me for some info that I personally couldn’t help him with, so I sent him to the NCFJE office. The next time I saw this person and he told me how he had been helped I was supprised because I had worked with the organization and even I hadn’t known in how many ways… Read more »
I would love to vote for Shea Hecht, he is a great guy. but the past has shown me that he works for the exclusive interestes of ncfje+hecht’s. The Vaad is to benifit the comunity, not a single institution.
I will vote Brownstein + Hackner
voting for Shea because Brownstein is involved in machloikes is like voting for Obama because Bush isn’t conservative enough.
True, Hecht hasn’t been involved (that I know of) in this particular machloikes between rabbis Schwei & Osdoba, but after fighting against the Bais Din & against the CHJCC for 25 years does it really matter?
to # 75 ,CORRECT! SUPPORT OF RABBONIM IS # 1
VOTE FOR HECHT AND BROWNSTEIN.
LETS HAVE A MIXED VAAD AND LET BY GONES BE BY GONES
some1 who @ the time when the old Vad was trying to put a few yungerman to jail. he came to suport the Shomrim. WHY. he said how can i sit in my office when there yiden who r trying to put yiden behinf bars. so SHEA wont go to curt like brownstein and his grup of freands. VOTE 4 SHEA.
I am aware that the Vaad HaKahal impacts the community directly and importantly. But from what I’m reading here, it sounds like the campaigns in school for the G.O., but we weren’t allowed to be nasty. May Crown Heights and Emes win.
those who support our RABONIM is #1 to vote for
We need experience, and that is with Hecht and Brownstein.
as i a collel yungerman too i voted shea and yossi we don’t want anyone who had to do with the old machlokes vaad and as for the allegations that shea has special interests so does bronstein he wants to fund mendy hendel and co. to the maximum at the expense of ch families that can use it
B”H
Remember: if you bring yourself to seeing the good in another Jew, and look away from the bad, then you merit the person you think about do Teshuva.
Power thought. Achuds begins with YOU!
Yechi HaMelech HaMoshiach
what biased reporting. “Elder resident R’ Berel Haskelevich nabbed flyers from the Hecht campaign. A chase began down Kingston Avenue” if he is elder? how did he run?? he is not elder or he did not run….
how can a elder chasid do something that is the opposite of ahavas yisroel? (sinas chinum??!!) im sick to my stomack!!
this is the rebbes shchuna where people are so full of hate???
please join me and vote Hackner & Brownstein!
I voted Brownstein & Hackner
Please go out and vote!
There is no doubt, that Fishel and Shia are the guys to get the job done right, the first time. Just came back from voting in this 100 degree weather, and feel great to vote Fishel and Shia… Sorry, Hackner, maybe in 10 years from now.
WHOEVER WINS WILL WIN THERE’S NO POINT IN SAYING WHO you WANT TO WIN!!
That averages about 100 votes an hour. At this pace we can expect a turnout of about 1600 votes by midnight, well short of last month’s 2000+ votes, but well ahead of most other elections. Do you think the turnout will get heavier as the day progresses, keep up it”s current pace, or slow down? Who stands to benefit? I wonder if the Lubavitch elite crowd (i.e. those who are generally to important to vote for farmers in CH) will turn out today. Can those in the Shechuna report on what they are seeing on the ground?
I think they have what it takes TOGETHER to help us all.
And if you think they cant work together, think again – it was Elie Poltorac who said that NOT FISHEL.
Make the vote FOR, not against.
what are you talking about im in kollel, most of us seem that hecht and hackner is a better pair. brownstein seems to be aligned with machlokes, took the rabbonim to court. most sane chevra wont vote for a person who massers.
voted hecht/hackner as majority of kollel has from who I’ve spoken to
ben hay-hay omer; = hackner,hecht
To #46: You got it backwards. Shea doesn’t help people because it is his job. Shea has this “job” BECAUSE he loves to help people. He will sit with a millionaire who is having trouble with his rebellious teenager with the same attention he would give to a penniless widow, for whom he will take the last dollar out of his own pocket. I know many, many people who were helped by him, and no, his help is not limited to his family or his own organization. His organization runs many other organizations and if he helps “his own” first,… Read more »

We Kolel yungerlayt will vote for Brownstein & Hackner
Where do all these “mesira” charges come from – they are patently false!!! Recently, a member of the community who has a law degree, Yitzchok Wagshul, was asked to explain what a subpoena is all about. Although his entire response is below, here are some excerpts: “…I am a lawyer by training, and I can tell you what a subpoena is. “A subpoena is simply a court document ordering someone to give you the evidence you need. It is often prepared by the lawyer for the person seeking the evidence; the judge often doesn’t even know about it… “The new… Read more »
Give up the fights and HELP OURSELVES!!!!
VOTE FOR BROWNSTIEN AND HECHT !!!
THEY HAVE EXPERIENCE AND WILL REPRESENT THE WHOLE COMMUNITY
BOTH “SIDES” OY VEY IF ONLY THAT WOULD END! AD MOSAI!
BS:DThe comments that Rabbi Hecht has only helped his orgnaization and the Hechts personally is surprising.None otf the Hechts live with the trappings of wealth so how did they help themselves.Further, until now his job was to help his org. so what his his sin in that regard.
to #41 Boruch Hoffinger. Its so sad to see how WRONG YOU ARE on all acounts. 1. im 34 years old and BH was blessed with BRAINS 2. IM NOT AFRAID ..because i know when shea wins he will help our community not cause machlokes like you and your fellow friends are- fishel brownstein is THE MASTER MIXER IN ALL THE MACHLOKES- he stirs everyone and everything up- untill machlokes happens! 3- Shea us someone that is devoted to NCFJE- He helps everyone and everything breathing- i think you need to go back to Shea for more help!! 4- His… Read more »
what makes you say that
if they dont work together then we are all in this together
As a Kolel yungerman, I believe that many of my peers see past this calls for “change” and “hope”, and will vote for Mr. Brownstein, it seems pretty clear that he has the interests of the Shcuna at heart/mind with no other ulterior motives or conflicts of interest.
I vote Brownstein and Hackner
what makes you say that
don’t you see what Hackner has accomplished already
and flush mesira down!
Vote for both. They will represent both spectrums of the community and bring togthere various aspects of much needed expereince to run a proper Vaad. If both win, I surely hope they will work together for the better of our shchuna.
hackner must be smiling, as he does nothing automatically he wins…must feel great.
i dont trust blizinsky,wilchansky,serebransky,racies.
thses guys brough so much machlokos so much stupid politics. so their letter kind of pushed me to ditch brownstein. if not for that letter i may have voted for brownstein. as he seems like a innocent person. but as the mishna says oy rusha oy lshchainoy. so ill vote for shea hecht and hope he does a great job. and doesnt just use his post for shala,
13 Brownstein and his cronies didn’t bring about the din Torah. Rather, there was nothing they could do to avoid it, which first theydid try to. For the record, if anyone thinks they brought “peace”, any resemblance to “peace” in the one year they executed their military takeover- ie. quieter in the community is only due to the Din Torah which has been in process since a little over a year ago, right after they took over, and immediately went to court with their mesirah, Rabbi Gluckowsky stepped in to offer his services as a peacemaker. (last year Sivan). we… Read more »
I have known Fishel and Shia for about 7 and half years now, and clearly see the difference between them. Fishel is an honest, hard working and respectful person, his entire life. Shia, although helped many people out, as that was his job, has always been on the border line, politically savvy individual, who, for the most part, been beneficial to NCFJE=Hechts, Inc. So, the bottom line is Shia will, and always have been very successful in helping his own family. Will he help THIS community? I have no idea, and prefer not to take a -Chance- Fishel, on the… Read more »
i like yossi hackner but he is no comparison with hecht or brownstein.
VOTE FOR BROWNSTIEN AND HECHT!!!

I will vote for him and hackner
Say no to politics
Say yes to honesty.
vote for Fishel Brownstein and Yossi Hackner
#1 is certainly afraid to state his/her name and is probably a teenager, uninformed or thinking emotionally. Your unsigned comment carries little impact. Perhaps it’s fake? The F. Brownstein vaad made this election possible and brought the rabbonim closer together. This vaad could have done nothing and continued ‘dragging their feet’ like the previous. #2. You either are also a teenager, thinking emotionally or have been helped by R. Shea Hecht. I was also helped by Shea but am NOT voting for him, why? A. I am 67 years old and use my BRAINS! B. I am not afraid of… Read more »
Go out and vote.
I voted for Fishel Brownstein & Yossi Hackner
Check out: http://www.AnashNews.com
Voting is NOT in the Kolel (Union & Kingston) but in the older men’s Kolel, the Veiber Shul of 770, entrance on Kingston Avenue.
Please tell your family & friends.
<"we were stunned to see that in several pashkvilin fishel brownstein was slandered and accused of mesira r"l".> in last weeks Parsha, the Torah needed to tell us that Pinchas’s actions were justified, since many of Bnei Yisrael were carrying on about “How could you slander, accuse of immorality, and kill a Nasi of a tribe of Israel?!! etc. etc.”
The Torah then testifies that quite the opposite, Zimri, the Prince in Israel WAS GUILTY, and Pinchas was absolutely justified. Pinchas removed Hashem’s anger with his action, and he stopped the plague afflicting Klal Yisrael,SAVING countless lives.
People please don’t be impressed by the “big names”, (they have been involved in this machlokes since the beginning.) Zimri was a big name too!
,”It is known to us that all the steps were guided and approved by Rabbonim and don’t contain any trace of mesirah”> OY! which Rabbonim approved of criminal charges against a host of Yidden?
Are there ANY candidates?
looking good chanoch!
CC will get more chicken from R. Fisher for kapores!!!
Brownstein & Hackner
vote for Fishel Brownstein & yossi Hackner
vote for truth and honesty !!!
Brownstein & Hackner

who to vote for – go to: AnashNews.com
Re: “Eltere Chassidim”. We saw from the new elections this past month that a letter signed by many “eltere chasidim” carried no weight at all. On the contrary!! This time around only four of your so-called “eltere chassidim” endorsed a candidate…
We need to turn a new leaf. I am flabbergasted that people would consider voting for Brownstien. Isn’t the reason for this whole process to move on? Let’s move on!
A vote for Brownstein, is a vote for poltorak and Chanina he is their puppet, Rabbi Hecht did make some mistakes over the 40 years of service, but overall he will be a tremendous asset
to our Community.
The camp scholarships are provided by private donors who will not donate without an honest, accountable va’ad in place. For any hope of obtaining private donations, vote Brownstein Hackner
Why give hackner a free ticket in.
Vote Hecht and brownstein.
Real achdus accomplished with opposites working together.
Did anybody notice that Shea Hecht is the only one who didn’t “shmear” any of the other candidates? For that reason alone, he has my vote. That’s in addition to all of the good he’s done for the community. And did you ever consider that if he gets voted in onto the va’ad, he’ll be able to focus on the whole Crown Heights instead of just smaller organizations?
dont worry that Hecht met with politicians. Politicians will work whomever is elected. They want the community’s vote!
i vote for shea hecht
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V0wT9BBop8
GO SHEA !!!!!
I woke up nice and early – went to the mikvah, learnd Chassiddus, davvend,
and then
I went to vote!
Brownstein & Hackner!!!
vote Brownstein!
I voted for Brownstein!
A vote for shea is a vote for a better community
shea dont worry wait till after 5pm when all the working pepole come vote and you will win.
till what time can you vote?
The Torah deliniates clearly what to look for in a community leader- anshei Chayil MEN OF VALOR who will fight the war of Torah and Chassidishkeit ,, of chinuch rather than personal agendas and personal mosdos) and yirei elokim G_D FEARING- anshei emes- MEN OF TRUTH sonei betza- PEOPLE WHO HATE MONEY AND ABOVE BRIBERY.
Political ties can be acquired< integrity cannot>
I suggest a new campaign – it’s pretty easy, and will help promote the Ahavas Yisroel that we all know is in need of some improvement.
What if we ALL make sure to write only positive comments on the websites? Even if we want to say something negative – let’s find positive ways to say it – without hurting or knocking anyone. Anyone want to join the bandwagon? Anyone want to run the campaign?
I am angry and beyond fed up. I have lived here 22 yrs,and I just called the community council and the promise to fund camp scholarships was withdrawn allegedly because of political nonsense. Is this fair to the rest of us, who are struggling to put food on the table, survive day to day and send our kids to camp? I think not. Why do we, the rest of the population of crown heights who are not involved in politics and the quest for power continue to suffer. Since when does helping a fellow jew depend on politics. I and… Read more »
was heading vaad which brought about din torah and free elections. he is a real mentch. all the dirt shmearing against him id despicable. he really has only interests of community in mind. in a year he got political connections too. my vote goes to him.
Shea is a charachter – we dont always know what hes up to, but he is not rumming the show, Brownstein, even if he is as good as the letters say he is, he has no real connections, neither does Zaki or Hackner, so i say that vote for hecht, and hope for the best!
not effective. he brought piece in one year – at the risk of being replaced. How can people be so unthankfull and bios.
with Chanina out, we really need someone like Shea who has a vast network of connections.
What a shameful letter! Did our forefathers in Russia run to courts! Threaten lawsuits? Sue the Rov for challenging an election he felt was against Halacha? Close Mosdos? Steal Beis Din documents? How dare you abuse their memory!
Further, why is it when Brownstein’s group like something Rabbi Rosenberg says, it’s Torah Misinai! When he approves a candidate they don’t like, it”s bowing to pressure! Do you think Poltorak and others have not applied pressure?
We know you guys supported the Poltorak crowd. Do you have to insult those who risked and sometimes gave their lives for Yiddishkeit?
HE HAS BIG A PROBLEM CALLED “CONFLICT OF INTEREST”
HIS PARNOSE COMES FROM A COMPETING ORGANIZATION
SO NO CHOICE BUT TO VOTE FOR BROWNSTEIN – HACKNER
i am shocked how they are using memories from russia about mesira!
the word mesira has been used loosely against rabbi krinsky, shemtov etc for years, by the hooligans who are backed by those same russian chassidim who signed that letter!!!
Although I don’t support either shea nor brownstein, it would seem to me that brownstein has the advantage for the simple reason that most people that have gone to the country are shea supporters, while those in the city are the mishichist crowd who will support brownstein.
Either way I can’t see things looking up.
The real question of our future will be with the elections for the third rav.
I once had some respect for these four people (rabbi`s) Blizinsky, Reitzes, Willshansky, Sarabransky. I can`t have it any more. Based on the documents we have seen, and on the statement that Rabbi Rosenberg made at the last public meeting, that he was not forced to let Shea Hecht run, and that his running is not a conflict with the by-laws. These are the same four that are involved in every machlokis in C.H.
Fishel Brownstein looks for support from elterer Chassidim and Shea Hecht shows us pictures of him smiling at goyim. That says it all!

vote for shea! just feel R. hecht has more experience and will make a great asset.
my vote is for Shea and Hackner. Brownstein has not been effective until now. What will make him suddenly start to be?
