gr8 story!
April 14, 2010 6:00 pm

I was periphally involved in this story and it’s true although the writer mixed up some minor facts and left out some others. “Yoel” didn’t go home so quick and yossi got him a job in SF driving a forklift so he can earn some money and self-esteem. His connection started with sending letters to his wife in willi and yossi put much effort and time into getting them back together. It was a long process that didn’t go in one night and YT stuck with it until they were reunited B”H.

amazing story

This story brought me to tears… reb yossel was a tzadik.

his love for another yid was unimaginable!

I know it may have just been a tip of the iceberg but i gave what i can, if everyone just gave whatever they can, it will add up to ease the tremendous financial burden of his incredible family.

Ad Mosai!!!

Glad I heard this story again!!!

Papa Bear Was a TRUE TZADDIK!!! He was always there for us @ upstate yeshiva, he built us a gorgeous MIKVAH, he sent us up CAKES, SALADS, LOX and other goodies EVERY WEEK for MELAVE MALKA, he got us SHWARMA for participating in the chassidus club, He was always there for us young bochurim, He always walked in with a BANG, a big smile, he radiated LOVE to everyone around him, it was hard to be in a bad mood with Yossels presence, He cared, He loved, He sensed when something was wrong with a bochur then he would go… Read more »

A ‘Gevaldiker meiser.’ I shed tears while reading the story. I witnessed real ‘melamed schus.’ I see how others are ‘melamed chov.’ Busy condemning other ‘Yidden’ while their own self-love covers over their own faults. I saw how ‘Chassidim’ trample on basic ‘Yiddishkeit’ while wearing ‘Chassidic’ garb. (One sign of the ‘Yetzer.’) Rabbi Yossel Tevel has a heart of gold. It surely seems he passed on because of our faults. Wonderful ‘Yidden’ like this can bring ‘Moshiach’ in a minute. Truly, he was just being his ‘true self.’ Was Rabbi Tevel a ‘tzaddik’ or are we all ‘abnormal?’ He was… Read more »

Taken aback!!!

WOW!!! and I thought i knew yossel…. every time another story comes up that was never publicized… now i see how all the insane amount of chesed he did throughout his short little while in this world was completely selfless, no press release, no kavod involved, Just for the sake of helping another yid in distress!!! that is what he lived for. Yossel ztz”l was the EPITOME OF AHAVAS YISROEL!!! not a day goes by me without thinking about you and your priceless smile and hugs you would always give me when i needed them most. I MISS YOU DEARLY!!!… Read more »

Yossel is the best
April 12, 2010 10:57 pm

A day doesn’t go by without tears flowing with memories of Yossel. He was such a tayere person who cared for anyone. I sorely miss him. If we (“hachai yiten el libo”) can only take an example of this and learn from his selfless chesed. He didn’;t care for any personal luxuries, but rather to help a fellow human being in distress. This is what he did for others and now we must be there to do for him.

Now I understand the meaning. To remember this Tzaddik would be a Brocho for us all. We must help his family … If each reader gave $36.00 – $100.00 what would it mean to you? How much more it would be for his family? May we never forget such a Tzaddik!
