A recent fundraiser in Brooklyn, New York has helped bring awareness about the enormous burden on families of Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchim who are raising a child with special needs.
The “Soup Fest” was held at the Crown Heights home of Berel and Sarah Nagel to raise needed funds for Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe, a non-profit organization.
Founded by a group of yungeleit in conjunction with Shluchim raising children with special needs, the charity supports and assists these Shluchim so they can focus their energy on spreading the light of Torah and Yiddishkeit in their communities.
The event coordinator Dovid Leib Shur, addressed the gathering of close to 100 people and imparted what their participation means to Shluchim families.
“In a remote community that is without any aid organizations, the costs and research for proper care becomes very challenging,” Shur said.
“Knowing that fellow Lubavitchers can be of assistance is a tremendous source of chizuk to Shluchim.”
Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed an elegant buffet filled with delicious soups, delectable cheeses and a variety of fine wines.
Yaldei board member Gershon Sabol spoke about the great impact this organization is having on Shluchim who are raising children with special needs.
According to Yaldei’s statistics, over 100 Shluchim worldwide are raising one or more children with special needs. Its programs are designed to ease the difficulty by providing respite programs, reimbursement funds, seminars, retreats, halachic expertise, support for siblings and family members, and clinical counseling.
Last August, Yaldei sponsored a beautiful retreat for parents in Florida, and similar programs are being planned for the Midwest and the West Coast areas in the near future.
During the recent Kinus Hashluchim 5770 in New York, Yaldei presented a full day seminar which provided practical insight and guidance and gave much chizuk to the Shluchim who took part.

Go go go!!!!!!!!
nice of nagel to host.
how does one get invited to such a nice event? what was the entry price?
Looks awesome. you guys did a great job!!! keep up the good work.
Gershon! You are the best. Keep up your gevaltige Askonos for alle kreizen! Simchas and Nachas.
Please donate to this worthy cause. Many shluchim with disabled children are suffering silently all over the world. The financial and emotional burden of a disabled child r”l on a shliach’s family takes a toll not only on the shlichus but on the whole family as well. Outside of NYS the programs available to families with disabled children are minimal or non existant. Please open your hearts for this one of a kind worthy cause.
So nice to see that you came for this event! Is that what it takes to get a visit from Boro Park? We should do this more often.
Chesky-
Being that you’re a bit older than most guys at this event, it’s great to see that you’re a true roll model when it comes to donating your time and money to so many causes. In times like these when it’s easy to turn someone away just because “times are tough” you are always approachable and willing to lend a hand. Thanks again for being there when people need you most.

All the young guys looking good, sharply dressed….
As a mother of a child with special needs, on shlichus, it is so heart warming and supportive to have this beautiful organization of Yaldei. Times can get real tough, but knowing there are those out there who are giving support both financially and emotionally, is pretty amazing. May Hashem bless you all in return with all your hearts desires.
who is behind yaldei?

I dont think there is a greater cause than helping out shluchim with special needs children, since they dont have all the resources that a regular Jewish community has.

I fell proud to be a partner, and encourage everyone to make a monthly donation even if it’s only $18
