Last week, a panel of three judges from the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals summarily rejected the appeal by Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin?s legal defense team, and upheld Judge Linda Reade?s original refusal to grant him bail while awaiting sentencing.
Rubashkin continues to be incarcerated at the Linn County Correctional Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.
But his attorney, Nathan Lewin, will pursue the matter further, and take it to the full 11 Judge-panel of the 8th District Appeals Court, where he hopes the appeal will get a careful and just hearing.
In the meantime, efforts to help Rubashkin and his family are gaining traction. Some 900 women attended a rally Sunday evening to raise awareness of his plight. This is in addition to the 1800 women that attended a Boro Park rally two weeks earlier.
In response to the numerous inquiries and offers of help that followed, the NCFJE Pidyon Shevuyim office has laid out the following areas in which your help is vital to the ongoing activities on a strictly volunteer basis:
Donate: We need to raise upwards of $1 million over the coming months to secure the best legal defense for Sholom Mordechai. To make your donation click here
Sign up and become a fan of “Friends of Sholom Rubashkin” ? this is important for many reasons and will be noticed by the judge.
Write a letter to Sholom Mordechai. This is more important than you may think. Make a regular habit of it and mail your letter by post to:

Say Kapitel 51 in Tehillim for Sholom Mordechai HaLevi ben Rivka and keep his family in mind, whenever you daven, give tzedaka, or do a mitzvah. The power of positive thinking and having him in our hearts and prayers at all times is enormous.
Sholom Mordechai is denied the ability to fulfill the mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel?a mitzvah that is dear to his heart and for which he and the Rubashkin family are so well known. Choose an act of Ahavas Yisroel every day, and dedicate it to his zchus.
The Pidyon Shevuyim office at the NCFJE office has a team of individuals working on a volunteer basis, long hours every day. As efforts expand, the need for more help grows.
They are now in need of one capable individual to coordinate efforts with the professional PR firm that has been contracted to work on this case.
If you think this is something you are good at, or know someone who is, and can join the volunteer efforts by dedicating 2-3 hours working in the NCFJE office on Eastern Parkway 2-3 times a week on a volunteer basis, please contact Lena at (718) 735-0208 to arrange for an interview.
May we merit to see Sholom Mordechai?s geula b?karov, and the ultimate geula with Moshiach now!
Not be allowed I meant. Allthough I wish it was otherwise.

it would be a good idea. But probobaly he is in a very strict jail where he would be allowed to daven with a minyan.
why doesn’t he ask in the meantime to be transfered to another prison where there are more than a mynian Yidn in upstate NY. There is a shul and they daven together plus they learn and have shiurim. I use to go there when I was a bochur for purim Chanuka etc and it was under the auspices of Lubavitch youth org.
when you write to him a letter don’t forget to write a return address or they won’t give him your letter!
this man and this family have helped endless shluchim, mosdos and anash
Halevai all our efforts, financial, spiritual and morale-boosting, will bring about Shalom Mordechai’s geulah immediately. Shalom Mordechai ben Rivka HaLevi is certainly performing the mitzvah of ahavas yisroel. He is constantly expressing his gratitude to the tzibbur davening for him. I hope his wardens freeze at night to avenge the cruelty heaped upon Shalom Mordechai. This treatment, or lack therefof, has to be illegal in the USA. In this country, prisoners, even mass murderers’ “rights” are protected. This issue on its own is an outrage of epic proportions. Sholom Mordechai’s yissurim are mechaper for all tzaros in klal yisroel, but… Read more »
I hope that he gets out of that cold and aniquated jail. Besides for the fact that it is inconsiderate to keep him incarcerated, it is totally inhumane the to keep a person in a building that is not environmentally controlled. It seems like a prison in which the Alter Rebbe was.
