Benny's Album Release Party
Photos by Yossi Percia / COLlive

Dozens from the Jewish music industry attended Motzoei Shabbos Benny Friedman's album launch - kumsitz party in Crown Heights, hosted by COLlive.com.

Up-and-coming Chassidic singer Benny Friedman celebrated the release of his debut album at a Melave Malka in Crown Heights, hosted by COLlive.com.

Friedman and COLlive staff greeted the dozens of members of the Jewish music industry at the Lubavitch Yeshiva simcha hall on Motzei Shabbos.

Yehuda Piamenta, Yisroel Werdyger, Shloime Taussig, Yossi Goldstein, Dovid Stein, Yoni Zeigelbaum and other singers were on hand to congratulate him.

Accompanied by Fitche Benshimon, Benny sang some of the CD's new tracks, which led to a kumsitz-style gathering and dancing.

Child soloist Ami Eller sang a beautiful duet with Benny.

Also present were Benny's marketing manager Sruly Meyer, Benny's producer and manager Avi Newmark, and the CD's composers Elimelech Blumstein, Yitzy Spinner and Bentzy Marcus.

Also seen were Avremi G - arranger, Ian Freiter - engineer, Benny Taubenfeld and Hillel Hirsch from Sameach Music.

The CD entitled 'Taamu' is due in stores this week.

Doesn't anyone think???
I still think the cover isn't the smartest thing I've ever seen. It sends a great message to the kids: it's OK to walk down the middle of Eastern Parkway (& pray you don't get hit by a car.)

Nice
It's very refreshing to see an actual "Chasidic Singer" the old-fashioned way, with a very simple looking celebration for the record release. Our kids so admire these "celebrities" that it's great to see someone I wouldn't mind them admiring. Just like a his uncle in more than one way.

Brocha Vhatzlocha!

wondering
Does Avraham Fried get any credit in any of this that benny is doing. Seems like avremels name is not mentioned anywhere.

2-genug shoin
to number 2, we heard already in this and every other comment section from you. Enough already, do you think publicly harassing someone is something we should be teaching our children? If you are so concerned then email benny directly. Trying to embarrass someone in public is not something I want my children seeing is ok.

4) what did avremel do?

Benny and Avraham Fried
Benny Friedman owes a lot to his uncle Avraham Fried.

First, as every Jewish singer these days owes a lot to Fried and MBD and other pioneers who paved the way.

Second, being a nephew clearly helped Benny to start.

I'm sure the decision not to attended was taken by both Fried and Benny. His presence would have cast a further shadow and Benny career and album. He has grown up and its time to prove himself, to make it on his own.

All we can hope is that he develops a distinct style and voice, and does not just imitate his uncle otherwise he'll be another "upcoming star" who is now a wedding singer at best

Hatzlacha.

Or..........................
He was OUT OF TOWN!!!

Ribono Shel Olam! Didn't you hear Lipa's song about Dimyoinis? Hasn't Lipa taught you anything? Or are you perhaps in a huge fight with Lipa and that's why you don't want to learn from him? Does he owe you money? You owe him? What's the scoop? Give us the dirt!

Man, Fried was out of town.

Sheesh.

Beautiful simcha
Beautiful to see a family as together as this family is and to see friends from the music industry from all corners of the frum world and musical world out to celebrate Benny's CD. It's a tremendous show of Ahavas Yisroel in the Jewish Music Industry and the party was an incredible idea.. and mazal tov to everyone and everyone involved. It IS a Kiddush Hashem and I hope other children in CH and Boro Park and all parts of the Jewish world see they can strive to use music for good.. and to add simcha to the world.

And, I am sure that the parents involved definitely told their kids never to walk in the street like that... except maybe for a very special reason ... it was obviously a film shoot.. :) and it came off well. Enjoy the music... Hatzlacha indeed!

What's the big deal?
Benny Friedman is a very nice person. But, aren't we making too much of a todo about some music? It's just a CD of music. What's the big deal? I'm sure the music will be nice, and we will enjoy it; but.... Do we make the same tzimus about someone writing a new Sefer? Someone becoming a Shliach? Seems like this is all a little overblown.
