Rabbi Yehuda Shemtov, Director of Lubavitch of Bucks County in Pennsylvania, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s International Kinus Hashluchim, COLlive has learned.
“I’m very humbled by the responsibility to convey a message of such importance to a group of such significance at this critical juncture,” Shemtov told COLlive Friday afternoon.
The keynote address at the gala banquet in New York concludes the annual emissary convention, and is considered the most desired internal speaking venue for a Chabad outreach Shliach.
Each year a committee of Shluchim, nominated to plan the Kinus, narrows down the candidates to two and holds a vote.
Rabbi Moshe Kotlatsky, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch and organizer of the Kinus, relayed the committee’s decision to Shemtov.
Shemtov and his wife Miriam founded the Bucks County Jewish Center 18 years ago with a small computer in their Yardley, PA, basement.
Since then the Jewish Center has become the largest network of Jewish educational, social and religious programming in Bucks County, serving over 40,000 Jews.
Shemtov is the son of Rabbi Avraham Shemtov, Head Shliach of Philadelphia and Chairman of the umbrella group Agudas Chassidei Chabad International.
