This is still just a rumor. He claims growers have confirmed but we have no way to contact them. Actual quotes from growers, scientific testing results, etc–now that would be evidence.

I grow my own

I had a kosher esrog grower send me a few seeds. Only one sprouted. After careful tending of my small plant in a pot I planted it in my garden. I now have a tree about ten feet tall.
No pesticides!

Ask your LPCP. (“Local Primary Care Physician” – yes, I made up that acronym.)

Made esrog for too many years to count

Bs’d I’m now past jam and have been making candied esrog peel and chocolate covered esrog peel, (officially, that is the only part to eat). I soak the esroigim for 12 days, changing the water each night and then boil the shredded peel three times, each time in fresh water . Where have you been this last decade??? Why do you think eating organically is SO coveted? It’s because of all the evidence. Do a little research 🙂

October 14, 2009 8:20 pm

There is NO evidence that pesticides are bad for people.

food
October 12, 2009 1:05 pm

basically any food you eat,if you would see the preservation process, you wouldn’t eat it. That’s why the difference between a candy and an apple is 0. An esrog is just a drop worse, probably.

Nonsense

What makes you think these pesticides are unhealthy for humans? Most agricultural pesticides are completely harmless to humans. Without knowing what kind are used on the esrogim, you’re just guessing.

Dont eat your Esrog

I was in Italy and I can testify that eating an esrog is like eating a tomato just sprayed with that roach killer you buy in the store, after seeing what they spray I wouldn’t let my kids touch food without first washing their hands after holding an Esrog.
