Parents and friends of Bais Rivkah school in Crown Heights gathered at 26 Bridge in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn for an evening of support on Tuesday.
100 people enjoyed a spread of delectable appetizers, sushi and meats by Table 1 Catering and a selection of fine wines by Eber’s Wine, at the elegant event designed by Chanie Greenbaum events.
The intimate evening featured musical entertainment by Fitche Benshimon orchestra and a performance by mentalist David Garfinkel, who regaled the crowd with mind-reading tricks.
Rabbi Moshe Pinson, the school’s Director of Development, thanked attendees for their support of the school, remarking that keeping a school with 2,300 students functioning is a monumental job which the board has undertaken as dedicated volunteers.
Pinson assured that the event was only the first of many initiatives which he and Program Coordinator Rabbi Yossi Baumgarten will be spearheading in the future, as part of the school’s new policy of transparency and accountability to parents and donors.
Rabbi Avraham Shemtov, chairman of Bais Rivkah’s board, thanked the entire board for their tireless dedication in ensuring that the teachers are paid and the school continues to grow and thrive.
Mrs. Danit Shusterman, a teacher in the school who is also a parent of students, spoke about the incredible energy that exists in the school and amongst the teachers, and remarked upon the dedication of every teacher and staff member, who ensure that students’ needs are met and challenges are dealt with immediately.
Mrs. Leah Boas, the school’s new Executive Director, spoke about the school’s growing numbers and the need for continued support of the scholarship fund, as the number of requests for scholarships continues to grow.
Rabbi Yerachmeal Jacobson, one of the board members, remarked that every person in the room, has been a “tremendous help to Bais Rivkah and a special friend to the board.”
“All of you have been there from the beginning to make a very healthy school even better,” Jacobson said. “Our main concern is the 400 plus women and men who are relying on us to get their paychecks. It’s wonderful to see people here from the community stepping up and getting involved to help.”
