Aharon Tzvi Altman and his wife Chana (nee Reich) had a special encounter on the American Airlines flight 1191 they took from New York’s JFK Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor.
Aharon Tzvi Altman writes the following:
“What an incredible moment we had on our flight this morning. One of the flight attendants struck up a conversation with Chana and me during the flight.
“Turns out he is the last Jew in his family after a long chain of generations. His mother converted to Mormon a year after he was born. Unfortunately, he never had a Bar Mitzvah and put on tefillin and tallis… Until today…
“What a thrill it was to celebrate Yarden‘s Bar Mitzvah thousand of miles up high in the sky! Boy did we dance and sing in the back of that plane!
“You never know who you will meet, but it’s up to us to be open and see the opportunity to change the life of another for the better.
“He even wrote us a heartfelt handwritten note on one of the napkins. What a way to start our journey.”
Here is what the flight attendant wrote:
“So… Mr. + Mrs. Altman,
“Thank you so very much for my Bar Mitzvah. I’m still amazed and bewildered about how everything fell into place.
“How you both literally spoke to my soul. I’m forever grateful for what you’ve done for me, and I’m sure the appreciation will only deepen with time.
“Keep being the amazingly wonderful people you are.
“Thank you times a million, Jordan.”
so touched…you were meant to be on that flight-no accidents!
and who knows what’s next-he might find a nice jewish girl and have a bunch of kids, who someday might tell their grandchildren the story of how they returned to the tribe

What a powerhouse couple
You guys are incredible,
keep up the great work.
How wonderful to hear of this heartwarming story. All too often, we hear nothing except negative things these days. A beautiful couple who happened to be in just the right place at the right time to spiritually assist this flight attendant.
How wonderful to hear of good news and joyful things happening on our airlines. It gives one hope for the future of all mankind. As for God’s chosen people doing such a wonderful kind act for a fellow Jew, I am very pleased that these people are leading by setting an example for others. This is far better than the reported acts of “suffocating our pets;flushing our pets down commodes;allowing our children to run amok on planes which can threaten the safety and welfare of all those on board the aircraft; fellow adult passengers screaming and cursing at their fellow passengers;the list… Read more »

Can confirm they r still in touch as they exchanged personal information. Looking forward to hearing where this will go!
H’ works in mysterious ways. If this young would not have been saved, the family would have been lost to our people forever.
B’H, the Yiddishe neshama came forth at the right time and right place, just in time, so that this young man can eventually restart a Jewish family and bring an aliya to his ancestors’ neshamot.. H’ watches over His people!
