Hundreds of members of the real estate community are expected to turn out for an evening of education, networking, mentoring and more at the third annual JCONN Real Estate Summit. An invaluable resource for entrepreneurs from all over the greater New York City area who are interested in taking their real estate careers to the next level, the JCONN Real Estate Summit will provide participants with a rare opportunity to hear from and speak with prominent industry leaders.
Taking place at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, May 8th at the Dyker Beach Golf Course in Brooklyn, the JCONN Real Estate Summit is a joint project of the Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs, the Jewish Community Council of Marine Park and the Emergency Parnassa Initiative and is designed to help young entrepreneurs gain a foothold in the real estate market.
“Real estate has long been a popular career in the Jewish community and it remains a lucrative field with substantial financial rewards,” said CHYE director Rabbi Yehoshua Werde. “Our mission has always been finding and creating opportunities that provide support to fledgling entrepreneurs and those who have already begun to experience success in business. CHYE looks forward to providing additional events that will help them along that road.”
The summit will kick off with four concurrent breakout sessions tackling how to get prime listings, securing funding, leveraging assets and dealing with management issues, followed by a keynote address delivered by Jordan Slone, CEO of Harbor Group International whose real estate portfolio totals in excess of $7.3 billion. Other well known figures in the real estate world who will be available to participants for speed mentoring and networking during a two hour buffet dinner will be Yona Edelkopf, president and CEO of EMH Commercial Realty, Eli Verschleiser, partner and chairman of Multi Group of Companies LLC, Akiva Kurland CPA, CEO of Yellow Jacket Ventures, Mark Caller, founder and CEO of The Marcal Group, Ephraim Vashovsky, principal Vasco Ventures, Gershon Eichorn and Eli Karp, founder and CEO of Hello Living, with additional real estate professionals to be confirmed within the coming days.
Karp recalled the challenges of his own early days in the industry, more than a decade ago.
“There was no such thing as people getting together and mentoring,” said Karp. “I had to learn everything on my own and it was quite difficult.”
Having attended last year’s conference, Karp said that he looks forward to returning again, both to help others and to avail himself of the event’s many benefits.
“I always tell people to go to every single event, pick up new ideas, meet new people and ask your questions,” observed Karp. “On a random day people may be too busy to talk but when they come to a venue like this, where everyone shows up for the same reason, it is a different environment and everyone ends up gaining.”
Shea Rubenstein, executive director of the Jewish Community Council of Marine Park, said that this fifth annual real estate summit will provide participants with unprecedented opportunities.
“The JCC is proud to sponsor this event, helping the next generation learn the trade from the best of the best, the ideal form of job growth,” said Rubenstein.
Helping navigate the often confusing maze of the real industry can be a daunting task, one that can often seem overwhelming to beginners, added Yitzy Weinberg, associate executive director of the JCCMP.
“Having a forum where young entrepreneurs can get advice from established industry leaders, network and have their questions answered is invaluable and we anticipate that this event will make a real difference in people’s ability to earn a parnasa,” said Weinberg.
