A young father and his wife and 2 small children are being threatened with eviction this Monday.
A young father in our community was working hard to make a living working in a warehouse, barely paying his bills. A few months ago, his wife became diagnosed with cancer ל”ע. Having to take care of her and their 2 small children, he had to take off work. B”H the wife recently finished the chemotherapy treatments, and although she is still weak, he has been able to begin working again.
This has unfortunately left him with $25,000 of debt including unpaid rent for 6 months, grocery stores and credit card bills. His job barely covers his current expenses and will not cover the shortfall.
He has to come up with the rent money by this Monday or he and his family will G-d forbid be in the street.
Please give generously. This is a real person in our community. He has been through so much stress and doesn’t have family or a network of support. Let us give him some desperately needed reprieve from the stress he has been through, and show that we care.
When the Rebbetzin, Z”L offered to pay a woman’s rent, who was actually being evicted – did she ask her for verification?
A famous Rebbe (Reb Yoilish,, ZT”L), who was phenomenal in giving Tzedakah – someone questioned why he gave a certain individual money. “He did not need the money, so why did you give him?” To which the Rebbe replied, “He did not need it? BARUCH HASHEM, he did not need it.”
Are you saying that COLLIVE can vouch for the legitimacy of every single appeal for tzedakah on its site? Are you saying that COLLIVE can vouch for THIS one? (The Chesed Fund has an OPTION for its fundraising drives, of “YOUR CAMPAIGN CAN BECOME MORE CREDIBLE BY SUBMITTING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION.” But for whatever reason, this campaign has not done so. It is still likely legitimate, but it is puzzling that they did not choose this option.) COLLIVE: Please respond about whether you vouch for all fundraising campaigns on your site, as #17 seems to think, so we’ll know for the… Read more »
just donated 36 – why question if on colive? we should all give a small amount – nickels and dimes add up! they should see only yeshuos BEH
I just donated. Bh our generous community has raised very large sums for various causes – i am sure the rest of the amount can still be raised – donate now & give a fellow Jew the priceless gift of minuchas ha nefesh
Our job is to give as generously as we can when there is an outstretched hand &/or a request. Certainly not to question and/or “cool off” others from giving.
why why why and why agian has the situation gott this dire ?!!
When i went through a huge medical crises the community i was living in paid for my EVERYTHING !
rent , food ,school fees, shabbos yomtov clothing , u name it !
I’m a lubavitcher living in a litvish / chassishish / lubavitch community and alot of the help came from the outer community.
Did that earlier today, will post the response if I do get one BN personally I believe it obvious that a vouching of someone known should have been published along with this solicitation. Nobody suggested the family name be publicized.
Noone is saying that we have to take away privacy or that we shouldn’t give CV. All they are saying is that 1. It won’t hurt privacy if you have a name behind the anonymous campaign so people know it’s real and will give much more. It can be a rov, asked or any community member. People will just respond much much more
Please go on the link and click where it ways, “CONTACT THIS CAMPAIGN”.
Without a doubt , a chutzpa to even ask the name. a rov or community member vouching for the authenticity is ok to ask
Why would anyone in their right mind make up such a story!
And do you think that COL would write something like this, if they had any doubt that it wasn’t authentic!
Give the family some space, some privacy, some compassion, after all they’ve been through, and thank G-d that you’re not in their place!
Donate as if it were someone near and dear to you!!
i donated, but i think the person should be anonymous. but if it had a name to it of a Rov a community leader or anyone more people would donate.
please include the name of a known person who can vouch for this.
Personally I made a $36 donation but would give more if I was certain it was a real situation.
i think the person has had enough stress ….may not want his name given out. collive, i hope, would never publish something like this if not real.
sometimes it’s better to understand than be understood.
goldie n.
I am sure the editors would only post something legitimate. Why the need to shame someone already suffering
I would give if there was just some way to know this is real. Unless the fact that it doesn’t say communicated content means it’s verified by col live.
Is there a way to donate via paypal?
Please let me know how.
Thank you
Agree.
it should at least have the name of a Rav or a respected community member backing it.
It is great that the community can get help through this.
This may be just in my opinion but i think a post like this should have a name of a real person that can confirm these funds are going to the correct place, people will give much faster.
