Rabbi Schneur Kaplan, representative for Toys for Hospitalized Children in Florida, visited the victims of the horrific school shooting in Parkland.
Rabbi Kaplan brought brand new i-pads for the young teenagers in the hospital as well as kosher food, tefillin, tzedakah box and a mezuzah.
One of the Jewish victims, Devorah Bas Nechama, lay bandaged in her hospital bed.
Rabbi Kaplan put teffilin on with her father, and the entire family recited the shema together.
They talked and shared words of comfort, and gave charity together.
Rabbi Kaplan gave Devorah a beautiful silver mezuzah to keep with her.
Rabbi Kaplan shared how 17 is equal to the numerical value of the word “Tov” and that the only way to combat evil is with adding light with goodness and random acts of kindess.
The family unanimously agreed to light Shabbos candles this week and invite other friends and families to do the same.
At a time so very sad Rabbi you brought comfort and gifts …you brought a smile and some cheer to our devastated youth! What chessed! Thank you all! With organizations like you with rabbis like you I feel hopeful!
