The N’shei Chabad of L.A.’s Annual Chof Bais Shevat event welcomed close to 200 women coming together to commemorate the 30th yartzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM.
The elegant event, a celebration of unity and connection, unfolded Tuesday at the opulent Beverly Hills Hotel.
The event had an authentic feeling of “Unity and Achdus with a great energy in the room of Henei Ma Tov Umanayim Sheves Achim Gam Yachad”, described Devorah L. Wagshal, one of the attendees.
The women walking onto the red carpet were treated to a royal evening filled with inspiration and song. Women from all walks of life joined to commemorate our dear Rebbetzin. The majestic ballroom was filled wall to wall with the desire to connect, to reach out to one another, and to turn inspiration into transformation.
After submitting their names for a Pa”n, an exquisite food gift box awaited them on the seats. A complete feast of the senses topped off by a small bottle of Kos Shel Bracha.
After the opening of the evening with Tehillim, Sharon Gomperts outlined special moments from The Rebbetzin’s life. She then shared her personal story of the 3 gifts she got through her connection to the Rebbe.
“I promised the Rebbe that if Hashem sends us a baby, I promise to enroll my child in Gan Chabad,” she recalled. No eye was dry when Sharon described the arrival of her 3 daughters which is nothing short of a miracle to the medical world. “My only regret is that I should’ve asked for 5,” she admitted.
The soulful music of Judy Winegard then proceeded to fill the hearts of all with yearning and joy. A talented singer, Judy’s music set the tone for the next segment of the evening.
The keynote speaker, Mrs. Esther Lifshitz, riveted the crowd with a perfect presentation of inspiration and humor, deep learning and laughter. On shlichus in Boise, Idaho, she shared how she has learned to find her own unwavering strength in the most difficult circumstances. She then proceeded to show how Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka was the true personification of her own name. The names Chaya and Mushka are connected as they both are associated with the neshama and the sense of smell.
She explained how “As N’shei Chabad, we are most qualified to take the lead…” inspiring those around us to live a life of clarity and conviction.
“When one prioritizes their own children’s chinuch over their pocketbook- that’s the fragrance.. that’s the neshama shining through and that’s a chosid”, Esther passionately shared.
Esther continued that the Rebbe pointed out that 30 years begins a new era. This time we are ready to be led by the Rebbe and Rebbetzin toward the new era of Moshiach.
Ending the talk to thunderous applause, the women then joined again in song, this time to spontaneous singing and dancing which ended the evening on a high note.
The community extends their thanks to the organizers, Mrs. Fayge Yemini, Mrs. Ruchama Thaler, Mrs. Danielle Forer and Mrs. Chanie Pinson for coordinating the event. Special thanks to Rabbi Yossi Cunin and Rabbi Chaim Nochum Cunin of Chabad of Beverly Hills for arranging the beautiful and elegant venue.
