A new dairy restaurant from the team that created Bison and Bourbon Kosher steakhouse in Brooklyn has opened in Manhattan’s Lower East Side neighborhood.
Owners Duddy Shagalov, Ariel Mangami and Menachem Wolf, entrepreneurs and Crown Heights residents, have embarked on their second restaurant venture, this time offering upscale fish and dairy dishes.
Chef John Goullette, who has a background in French cuisine and worked under Jean-Georges, has created a menu of appetizers, fresh fish and handmade pasta with house-made cheese.
“Everything is made in-house,” owner Duddy Shagalov told COLlive.com “ingredients will be made fresh, nothing we serve in any of our dishes or drinks will be bought, everything is handcrafted – but still at an affordable price.”
The restaurant is in the basement of the boutique Sago Hotel, a 3-star hotel at 120 Allen Street in New York, offering the option of kosher hotel stays in the city.
The restaurant was designed by Maggie Rogatsky of HC Design Décor, in a “whimsical, airy design.”
“I wanted to evoke the feeling of a Paris restaurant, with soft, yet artistic and eclectic touches,” Rogatsky says.
The restaurant, under the supervision of the OK, is a 7-minute drive from Williamsburg, 25-minute drive from Crown Heights.
