Family and friends gathered Sunday for the beginning of a Sefer Torah being written in memory of Yanky Hillel OBM.
The event took place Sunday, 27 Teves, on his first Yahrtzeit, and will be finished on his second yahrtzeit.
The Torah writing is being coordinated by Yanky’s friends, who say they “miss him every day.”
Yanky was diagnosed with cancer as a young teen, which he battled bravely for 3 years until he went into remission. During those three years, Yanky always had a smile on his face and continued learning Torah.
At the age of 16, while learning in Postville, Iowa, a tumor was once again found in his brain. Yanky fought hard for the next few months but sadly, on 27 Teves 2016, he passed away.

May his Neshama have an Aliyah.
What a special, kind boy Yanki was.
