Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch of Crown Heights held a memorable event on the last night of Chanukah for students, their families and friends to partake in the joy and wonder of the holiday.
“It was a beautiful party that our whole family got to enjoy!” said Yissi Freeman, whose son attends the school. “The best way to celebrate the final lighting of the menorah.”
After the OYYL Talmidim attended 770 for the 8th candle lighting, they returned to their school for a grand Menorah lighting in the front courtyard of the school building on Eastern Parkway near Albany. Parents and friends joint the lighting which was proceeded by a rally with a miracle story and the twelve pesukim.
The festivities continued inside with live music, refreshments and creative activity booths for everyone to participate in. Chanukah themed fun tables included make your own kosher beewax lip balm, hammer a dreidle and menorah, clay dreidle workshop (formed with clay, decorated with beads and baked in an oven), doughnut decorations, edible menorahs made from wafers and candy corn, and make your own shamesh.
The evening concluded with OYYL’s legendary Chanukah raffle with exciting prizes for the whole family, such as books, Chanukah games and toys.
“I loved that at the end of the rally, all kids that didn’t win a prize got something from Rabbi Shneiderman,” said Adina Mushinsky, whose son is a student at OYYL in kindergarten. “The whole rally was planned excellently! I loved the live music. It added a unique feeling and comfort.”
“We feel very honored to serve such dedicated community of families and educators who seek quality chassidishe chinuch for their children and show tremendous support in the growth of the moisad. It was a perfect way to celebrate with our community the miracle of Chanukah as well as OYYL personal Chanukah miracle,” said Mottel and Mila Schneiderman, founders and directors.
Best family ever! Rabbi Yisroel, you’re making us proud!!!!

The beauty , warmth and unity of the party were truly amazing! A big Yashar koyach to the directors and all the educators for this unique joyous experience for our kinderlach!
This Chanuka party was a lot of fun for the whole family! Great hands on activities and music.
Thank you to all those that were involved!
Thank you so much oyyl! Rabbi and Mrs. Schneiderman and their devoted staff work so hard to bring chassidishkeit to life like the flames on the menorah. There are no compromises on yiddishkeit but on the other hand there is total acceptance. The flame of Torah must march on and BH my sons are among the flame bearers thanks to this wonderful school.
Go OYYL!!! All your events are so blessed with great atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable belonged!
Thank you to all the organizers for a wonderful evening!
