Thousands gathered in Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza for the annual Chanukah kickoff concert and lighting of the borough’s largest Menorah.
With temperatures dropping at a rapid pace, hot latkes and great music from the acclaimed Moshav Band kept everyone warm and joyous.
Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah and kickoff concert was sponsored by the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE).
A host of public officials joined in the celebration. Sharing Chanukah greetings were Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, NYC Public Advocate Letitia James and NYPD Chief of Brooklyn South Steve Powers.
“We take great pride in sponsoring New York’s premier Chanukah event. The Chanukah Candles share a miraculous story and we’re sure this energy is being brought back home enhancing our Jewish identity and pride,” said Rabbi Moshe Hecht of the NCFJE organization.
Honored with lighting the first candle was Mr. Jordan Kestenbaum from Marco International. Elevated by a special 45-foot boom lift together with Chabad Rabbi Shimon Hecht, Jordan beautifully recited the three blessing and lighted the humongous Menorah.
Special gifts were distributed to all the children making this a memorable Chanukah for all. In addition to all the local media, this event was live-streamed via Google’s local guides Facebook page.
