Thousands of Jews of all ages participated in the Menorah lighting ceremony held in one of the most iconic and previosuly imfamous places in the world – the Red Square in Moscow, Russia.
Held on Tuesday night, Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazer lit the first candle in the large Chanukah Menorah, exitedly reciting the blessings.
Rabbi Lazar, who is also Chabad’s Head Shliach in the country, encouraged the crowd to add light in their homes and families. “The light of Torah and the light of Mitzvos will lead you to be lamplighters to your surroundings,” he said.
The celebration is one of many events that are being held around Russia’s capital and around the country, connecting Jewish people and sharing the miracle of Chanukah.
