Basil Restaurant in Crown Heights will be closing tonight, Sunday, and will reopen with a new Kosher Certification, COLlive has learned.
The popular dairy eatery will be closed for 24 hours so that they can be fully Kashered by their new certifying agency.
When they reopen Tuesday morning at 8:30 am, they will be under the certification of the OU.
Basil recently unveiled their new menu, created by their new executive chef Kim Plafke.
They recently launched the Basil Hospitality Group, which includes 3 restaurants, including Basil, the new Bakerie, and the anticipated Meat.
We have been there a few times since the menu changed and we like the New menu a lot and we were there the other night and were talking to the girl server bringing us our food on Saturday night and it was actually the chef. She was very nice and all the new staff were nice too, a lot better than how it used to be. Between that and the new food I’ll start coming back more regularly again.
Crust is amazing
I think the new pizzas are a serious upgrade from the former menu. Idk why everyone is so “obsessed”- like do you eat at more than one place? Plus the chef that used to make that menu is gone. Why would they still make it? Doesn’t make sense.
I always loved Basil.
I love that your trying to keep things current and switch up the menu.
Please don’t take away the old pizzas we know and love.
BRING THEM BACK
Maybe you’ll get trendy non crown heighters, maybe you’ll even get trendy crown heightSers
But us hard core Basil fans will not let up until you bring back the old pizzas .
Kale and fire
Mushroom
Etc
But we really miss the old menu..
My friends and I all agree -the old menu was much better
I haven’t been there since they lost their hashgocho. Glad to be able to go there again.
They really broke the mold of the same old same old in crown heights restaurants. Glad to hear they are back under a well known hechsher. Hatzlacha Raba!
I want to try those fish ribs…and prosciutto!
Really don’t like the new menu. Everyone misses the old pizza.
Such a shame! Beyond me why they would take away all the good pizzas and food that everyone loved and came there for.
So happy, just please it would be nice if there was Jewish music!
New menu, new hechsher but same love for Basil !
Can’t wait to go back to basil! (Not that I stopped going…)
So happy about the new certification
