As the international Conference of Shluchim begins in New York, photographer Israel Bardugo provides a rare glimpse into the life of shluchim in Abuja, Nigeria, the most populous country on the African continent.
For a week, Bardugo joined the family of Shluchim in Nigeria, Rabbi Yisrael Uzan and his wife Chaya Mushka, and accompanied their fascinating life routine.
In Nigeria, many Israeli companies operate mainly in communications and infrastructure, and the Uzan family is a prominent Jewish anchor.
One recently project which was widely covered by local media is a large-scale humanitarian project run by the Chabad House in Abuja, among the local population, in cooperation with Rabbi Shlomo Ben Tolila, Head Shliach to Central Africa.
